Youth female talent Chen Tzu Hsuan was the best boxer in the Taipei City Youth Cup
The Taipei City Youth Cup was held in the capital city of Chinese Taipei where the country’s best high school talents from the age of 13 up to 18 met to get the titles of the tournament. The biggest name among the winners was their female youth talent Chen Tzu Hsuan who competed in the 2015 AIBA Women’s Junior World Boxing Championships.
Chinese Taipei has been competing in all AIBA and ASBC events since 2008 and their hard work paid off in the recent years. Chinese Taipei’s boxing life turned to a new era when their women’s No.1 Chen Nien Chin and men’s No.1 Lai Chu En qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games after 20 years of hiatus.
Chinese Taipei was excellent in the international level in 2016 which was their best ever performance in all age groups. Their Taipei City Youth Cup was a perfect preparation before the main international events of the year in 2017. The AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships will be held in India in November and their female talents will be there in the competition.
AIBA Women’s Junior World Boxing Championships competitor Chen Tzu Hsuan dominated the first round against Huang Ping Chen in her final and the referee counted her opponent in the second round twice and confirmed Chen’s RSC success. Following the Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup Chen was able to win another important national event.
One of their most promising female junior boxer Chen Yueh Tung was gold medallist in the last edition of the Chinese Taipei Women’s Junior President’s Cup half year ago and after that great success she was able to win the Taipei City Youth Cup. The 15-year-old talent, who trains in the Lanzhou Junior High School, won the final of the flyweight (50kg) of the junior high school level following her success over Tsai An Chiao.
In the men’s junior part of the competition Chen Yi Fu was able to deliver a top performance in Taipei. He won the Chinese Taipei Junior President’s Cup at the featherweight (57kg) and this time he was able to get the title at the light welterweight (63kg) following his triumph over Li Yu Hsiang in the final. Another President’s Cup winner Chang Jen Yi also proved top performance in the event and won the gold medal of the 44kg weight class after beating Yu Hsuan Wei in the final.
Hong Kong City Youth Cup winner and ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Huang Chuan Hsun was member of the national men’s youth team in 2016 and following his gold medal at the Chinese Taipei Youth National President’s Cup he was able to win another title against Cheng Ping Tsung at the flyweight (52kg). Hsieh Yu An dominated the light welterweight (64kg) in the men’s youth level and also proved great performance.
Wu Cheng Lin also delivered a sensational performance in the men’s youth age group who won all of his bouts by large margin of difference at the light heavyweight (81kg). Their 17-year-old Pu Yu Ching also dominated his previous youth national events and he was able to win his next title spending two minutes in the ring against Chen Jui Yang in the final of the super heavyweight (+91kg).
