Young stars will compete at the upcoming Junior World Boxing Championships
The IBA Junior World Boxing Championships will be another highlight in the end of the year in Yerevan, Armenia between November 24 and December 4.
Yerevan was the host of the 2022 edition of the EUBC European Men’s Elite Boxing Championships and the 2023 EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships.
The first edition of the Junior World Boxing Championships was called as Cadet World Boxing Championships and it was hosted in Baku, Azerbaijan 22 years ago in 2001.
Following the change in the name of the age group from cadet to junior, the first Junior World Boxing Championships was held in Yerevan, Armenia on May 2009. After 14 years of break, the competition will return to the Armenian capital and the host country plans to earn titles in the front of the local fans.
The last edition of the Junior World Boxing Championships was held in St. Petersburg, Russia in September 2015.
The championships will be held in all of the 13 official women’s and men’s weight categories in Yerevan, from the pinweight (46kg) up to the heavyweight (+80kg).
Altogether 57 countries have decided to send their 15 and 16-year-old talents to the IBA Junior World Boxing Championships.
Afghanistan, Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are planning to send their junior talents to Yerevan.
Several of the new ASBC Asian Junior Champions have registered to participate in the Junior World Boxing Championships in Yerevan.
The first competition day in the Junior World Boxing Championships at the Mika Sport Arena is November 24.
The finals will be held on December 3 after the rest day of the competition and altogether 26 champions to be crowned in Yerevan.
The ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships has finished in Astana, Kazakhstan on November 3 and there were continental events for this young age group in the European, Oceanian and American Confederations as well.
