Young stars dominate Uzbekistan Women’s Elite Championships
Emerging youth and U22 standouts came up with impressive showings to capture gold medals in the Uzbekistan Women’s Elite National Championships 2022 in Tashkent.
The 2002, 2003 and 2004 born boxers shined in the Uzbekistan Women’s Elite National Championships, more than half of the winners were under the age of 20 in Tashkent.
ASBC Asian U22 champion Farzona Fozilova staved off the tough Saidakhon Rakhmanova for a 3-2 split decision in the minimumweight (48kg) class.
Meanwhile, Andizhan’s Aziza Yokubova is Uzbekistan’s first ever female boxer who earned a medal in a Women’s World Boxing Championships, she got that bronze in Istanbul. The 29-year-old light flyweight (50kg) boxer eliminated Laylo Khamidova of Andizhan and she had a hard but successful battle against the ASBC Asian U22 Champion Sabina Bobokulova in this important final which was also a selection between them.
Feruza Kazakova, a 19-year-old talent who won almost all of her junior and youth international events, capped her perfect run in flyweight (52kg) with a 5-0 rout of Nozimakhon Bulturova.
IBA Youth World Championships 2021 titlist Nigina Uktamova produced a clinical 5-0 victory against the younger Mukhlisa Khushvaktova in the bantamweight (54kg) final.
World Championships 2022 campaigner Khadijabonu Abdullayeva clobbered another young fighter Ziyoda Yarashova, 5-0, in light welterweight (63kg).
Asian elite champ Sitora Turdibekova trounced Makhliyo Khabibullayeva, 5-0, in featherweight (57kg) while Mavluda Mavlonova pulled off a 3-2 stunner over two-time ASBC youth winner Aziza Zokirova in light middleweight (70kg).
Ferghana’s Navbakhor Khamidova is a fantastic boxer, and she not only advanced to the the finals of the welterweight (66kg) but she claimed the gold medal against Shakhnozakhon Kodirova of Tashkent.
The 20-year-old Sokhiba Ruzmetova, a youth hope, Sakhobat Khusanova and Dildora Saydullayeva earned the remaining titles in the heaviest weight categories.
A total of 84 elite women pugs across 12 weight divisions showed up in the national championships.
