Yemen’s Al-Ahdal was among the winners at the opener of the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament
The 23rd edition of the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament started in the city of Kostanay, North Kazakhstan where 18 bouts were concluded after the Opening Ceremony. Yemen’s new hope, Abdulaziz Ali Ahmed Al-Ahdal won his first contest over a Kazakh boxer which was a historic success for their nation.
Altogether 108 boxers are participating in the new edition of the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in Kostanay. The Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament is a strong men’s youth international competition, which was named by Ural and Korgan Aitenov.
The head of the local organizers, Mrs. Svetlana Mahleyt arranged all of the tournament programs and details and she is the engine of Kostanay’s boxing. Boxers who were born in 2005 and in 2006, are eligible to participate in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament.
Ruslan Kulymbekov won the first contest of the entire tournament but he had a tough job against Yemen’s newcomer in the youth national team, Muhei Al-Dain Taher Ali Zakarya. The local boxer managed to win the flyweight (51kg) contest but he had to show his very best in the last round.
Kazakhstan’s Zhanibek Sherbayev had a tough opponent as first, Tajikistan’s Youth National Champion and technician Muhammadali Hasanov. The Tajik moved up to the bantamweight (54kg) in the previous months and he was competitive in their contest but Sherbayev celebrated his success after the last gong.
Yemen sent boxers to the Aitenov Brothers Tournament for the very first time which is a strong effort from the developing country. Their Abdulaziz Ali Ahmed Al-Ahdal shocked Kazakhstan’s Zhaksybek Bayuzakov and he won two out of the three rounds on the judges’ scorecards which was enough to join the next stage at the bantamweight (54kg).
Kyrgyzstan’s Syrgak Akhmatkulov walked over to the quarter-finals of the flyweight (51kg) and his teammate, Akdoolot Abylbekov also advanced to the next phase of the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament. Abylbekov was slightly better than Tajikistan’s Khurshed Rajabov at the busy lightweight (60kg) in one of the best contests of the day.
Kazakhstan’s Abay-based Erzat Nurtayev is one of the stars of the lightweight (60kg) and he proved his development since his last appearance in the international stage. The favourite Nurtayev controlled his first contest against Tajikistan’s Jafar Khakimov and joined the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Uzbekistan’s Samandar Khabibullayev is a powerful and confident boxer at the light middleweight (71kg) which he showed against Nurbol Mukhamedali of Kazakhstan on Day1. A local boxer from Kostanay, Ilyas Zhandau won the last bout of the first session, he eliminated Nurtilek Abay at the middleweight (75kg).
