Vietnam’s male No.1, Nguyen Van Duong defended his title at the Strong Teams National Championships

The most experienced male boxer in Vietnam, Nguyen Van Duong claimed gold medal at the Strong Teams National Championships in Dak Lak Province.

Vietnam’s best female and male boxers competed from all regions and cities in this national competition where altogether 48 teams fought for the medals in Dak Lak.

Out of the 48 participating teams, six achieved gold and 18 squads earned at least one bronze medal in the men’s elite competition.

Vietnam achieved its best results in women’s boxing in the recent 15 years including Asian titles, further medals in the ASBC Championships, World Elite medals, World Youth medals and Southeast Asian Games gold medals.

Their ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships in 2017 and SEA Games in 2022 as the host country, supported their rapid development in the sport.

Quan Doi’s Bui Van Hoai Nhan won the additional pinweight (46kg) in the men’s part of the competition in Dak Lak after beating Nguyen Van Truc. Quan Doi’s next ace, the international boxer Nguyen Linh Phung delivered the team’s second title in the national event dominating the minimumweight (48kg).

Binh Dinh’s Do Thanh Do claimed bronze medal in the competition in 2023 which he switched into a gold this time when he defeated Phan Quang Tuan at the flyweight (51kg). Tran Quang Loc delivered Quan Doi 2’s first and title in the elite men’s finals at the bantamweight (54kg).

Nguyen Van Duong is Vietnam’s most experienced male boxer who competed in all levels of boxing during his career. The 28-year-old featherweight (57kg) boxer is not only powerful but he has the technical skills and footwork to beat all of his rivals easily including Doan Gia Thanh in the final.

Do Ngoc Hoan achieved a silver medal in the 2024 edition but he moved up successfully to the light welterweight (63.5kg) to win the gold medal against Ha Van Quynh in Dak Lak. Hanoi’s Nguyen Duc Ngoc defended her welterweight (67kg) throne against Ho Chi Minh’s City Nguyen Van Chung which was a top final in the event.

Quan Doi’s Tran Duc Tho was titleholder at the light middleweight (71kg) and he was unstoppable in the new edition’s final for Nguyen Thanh Giang. Another national team member from the Quan Doi team, Bui Phuoc Tung defeated a boxer from Ho Chi Minh City, Tran Trung Tin to take the middleweight (75kg) gold medal.

Bac Ninh’s Nguyen Manh Cuong moved up to the heavyweight (92kg) this year and the SEA Games medallist dominated his next national final against Luong Van Toan. the super heavyweight (+92kg) No.1, Doan Ngoc Minh Hieu took Quang Doi’s sixth gold medal in the National Strong Teams National Championships.
