The Uzbek Tigers started the Play-off with 3-2 success over the Russian Boxing Team in Ulyanovsk

The Uzbek Tigers ranked No.2 in Group D and had to meet in the Play-off with the Russian Boxing Team which was perfect in the Group C winning all of their contests in the Regular Season. In spite of the Russian Boxing Team’s performance the Uzbek Tigers won their first match 3-2 in Ulyanovsk and has been preparing to their second encounter which will be held on Saturday in the same venue.
Defending ASBC Asian Confederation Champion and AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualifiers winner Hasanboy Dusmatov delivered an amazing performance against a tough Russian Bator Sagaluev who claimed the gold medal at the Baku 2015 European Games. Dusmatov dominated their contest and his quick actions were delighted the fans of the Central Asian franchise in Ulyanovsk.
AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Murodjon Akhmadaliev made his WSB debut against Russian Boxing Team’s Abdulkhakim Batyrov who began the bout well enough which surprised the Uzbek ringside a bit. The 21-year-old Uzbek Bantamweight class (56 kg) star returned to the match in top shape after the first break and controlled the next four rounds in the second bout of the day.
Anvar Turapov had great junior and youth results during his career and surprisingly he replaced National Champion Fazliddin Meliboev in the team. The Light Welterweight class (64 kg) boxer attacked more than Russia’s Armenian-descent Avak Uzlian in the contest and his superb performance was enough to won all of the rounds in the evening. 22-year-old Turapov’s success meant Uzbek Tigers led 3-0 after three contests in Ulyanovsk.
The last two Uzbek Tigers such as current ASBC Asian Confederation Champion Bektemir Melikuziev and AIBA World Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Rustam Tulaganov both lost their narrow contests in Ulyanovsk to their Russian counterparts but after Day1 the Uzbeks leads 3-2 against the winner of Group C.
