Turkmenistan’s Jeyhun Dovranov won the Most Technical Boxer Trophy at the Saktaganov Youth Tournament

The Bokenbay Saktaganov International Youth Tournament saw Kazakhstan’s dominance but Turkmenistan’s Jeyhun Dovranov won one of the awards in the competition.

Aktau is located on the Eastern shore of the Caspian Sea in the Southwestern part of Kazakhstan and it has a busy boxing life as well.

Mr. Bokenbay Saktaganov was the Master of the Sports in the USSR and the city of Aktau honored him to arrange a new international event to his dedication. The venue of the memorial competition was the Dosan Batyr Sport Complex in Aktau.

Boxers who were born in 2007 and in 2008 were eligible to participate in the Saktaganov Youth Tournament which event was the first for the 2025 youth age group in order to increase their boxing skills and international experience. Altogether 78 youth talents from 12 teams competed for the medals in Saktaganov Youth Tournament.

Kazakhstan’s 16-year-old Meirzhan Seitkhan won the first gold medal in the tournament, the Mangystau region’s boxer won his difficult contests against Turkmenistan’s Hangeldi Lukmanov and Aktobe’s Beket Kosanov.

Kanzhar Yametdin, another local boxer from the Mangystau region, controlled all of his three contests in Aktau including his flyweight (51kg) final against Sharapat Medetbayev who represented Uzbekistan’s specific region, Karakalpakstan in the event.

Jeyhun Dovranov is a 12th-grade student in the small town of Yoloten in the Mary region and he not only win the bantamweight (54kg) final against Aslan Sydyk but he received the Most Technical Boxer of the Tournament Trophy as well.

Aktobe region’s Beybarys Sugirbay had a tough final at the featherweight (57kg) against Turkmenistan’s Meylis Shadurdyyev but he managed to win the title with a great finish. Two 16-year-old Kazakh talents such as Zhanibek Nurbakyt (60kg) and Yernur Duisenbay (63.5kg) won the next two weight categories.

Kazakhstan’s Bekarys Nurmukhan (71kg) and Bakytzhan Aitmukhanov (86kg) both achieved silver medals at the 2023 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and they dominated their weight categories in Aktau. Uzbekistan’s lone gold medal in the event was achieved by a super heavyweight (+92kg) hope, Alisher Utebayev controlling the last final against Kazhybolat Karkayev.
