Turganova, Abyldayeva, Nalibay, Uzakbay and Ussen were the bests at the Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament
Six female and thirteen male boxers earned their gold medals at the prestigious Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament in the city of Turkistan, Kazakhstan.
The local boxers from the Turkistan region earned four gold medals in the event and topped the team rankings ahead of Almaty region, Dzhambul and Mangystau regions.
Boxers who were born in 2006 or in 2007 had the right to compete in the strong Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament. Altogether 36 female and 186 male boxers competed in the new edition of the Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament.
The competition is dedicated to Mr. Bekzat Sattarkhanov who was gold medallist in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games but he died in a car crash a few months later of his glory before his 20th birthday.
Kazakhstan’s Yelyanur Turganova was gold medallist in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Astana and she continued her winning path in Turkistan against Balausa Sakybek at the light flyweight (50kg).
Liya Abdullayeva lives in the Turkistan region and the 17-year-old Kazakh talent dominated the bantamweight (54kg) final against Bagzhan Otynbay.
Kyrgyzstan’s female boxing is in promising stage and their Medina Abyldayeva delivered a historic gold medal for them at the women’s featherweight (57kg). The experienced Kyrgyz girl triumphed over Kazakhstan’s Zhanel Kanatkyzy in the final of the weight class.
Shugyla Nalibay is the defending Asian Champion at the youth middleweight (75kg) and she impressed once again in her next competition. The 18-year-old boxer controlled all of the three rounds against her teammate, Roksolana Valiyeva in the final.
Shymkent’s Birzhan Nurymbetov won the first male final in the Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament, the 17-year-old talent had a great finish against Bakdaulet Tolen and he earned the title of the minimumweight (48kg).
Dias Berikbay won the men’s flyweight (51kg) against Dosymzhan Tanatar by split decision and after that Bakhtiyar Askertayev had the same narrow final at the bantamweight (54kg) but he succeeded also 4:1 on the scorecards.
Yeradil Uzakbay enjoyed the support of the local crowd and he had the strong final round against Oybek Rozmatov of Uzbekistan at the featherweight (57kg). Dzhambul region’s Galymzhan Yermekbayev found the best fighting distance in the first round against Saken Yembergen and he earned the gold at the lightweight (60kg).
Akhmet Ussen claimed the title at the 2022 Asian Junior Championships and he needed his routine against Damir Ibragimov in the final of the light welterweight (63.5kg). Ruslan Dineuov (80kg), Imran Dinishev (86kg) and Salauat Tilekbay (+92kg) were the further notable winners in Turkistan.
