Torekhan Sabyrkhan will fight for his fourth Asian title next Monday
Kazakhstan’s Torekhan Sabyrkhan is on a glorious pathway and he won his next bout at the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Astana today.
Kazakhstan’s three-time Asian Champion Torekhan Sabyrkhan is a fantastic talent in our sport but his defensive skills were not the best in the first round of his semi-final against India’s Sumit. The 18-year-old Kazakh was more focused in the second round in the exchanges and he had the advantage on the judges’ scorecards. Sabyrkhan used his tricky style of boxing in the second and third rounds to eliminate his Indian opponent and he continued the Kazakh traditions at the welterweight (67kg).
Following Mukhammadaziz Ismoilov’s success at the welterweight (67kg), his teammate, Samandar Khabibullayev had a hard job against India’s Priyanshu in the next division. The Uzbek moved forward but the Indian found the best weapon against him in the second and third rounds which means he will now meet for the title of the light middleweight (71kg) Kazakhstan’s Oner Seilkhan who had a big battle against China’s Yideresi Yideresi.
Kazakhstan’s next boxer in action was an Asian Junior Champion, Sanzhar-Ali Begaliyev who moved a lot on feet to be a hard target for Kyrgyzstan’s Sadyr Rakhmanberdiyev in the first round. The referee counted the Kyrgyz boxer in the first round twice and Begaliyev felt the best range from seconds from seconds in their semi-final. Begaliyev proved his next strong performance in this semi-final and he is Kazakhstan’s fourth finalist in the male youth part of the championship.
Kyrgyzstan’s Mukhammadaziz Zakirov has five years of international experience and he followed the instructions of his coach, Mr. Marat Shamamatov well enough in the first and second rounds against India’s Sahil. The referee counted the Indian in the second round once and the Kyrgyz light heavyweight (80kg) boxer dictated the tempo well enough to beat a top opponent in Astana.
Kazakhstan’s Madiyar Beksultanov and Uzbekistan’s Javokhir Mekhriddinov both had outstanding successes in the quarter-finals of the light heavyweight (80kg) and the two promising stars had to meet each other today. The 17-year-old Kazakh has just joined from the junior national squad this January but his skills were matched with the Uzbek Youth National Champion. Beksultanov stopped his Uzbek rival with body shots and hooks in the third and decisive third round therefore he will be able to box for the title next Monday.
Iran’s Amirreza Malek Khatabi, their Youth National Champion from Kermanshah, used his height advantage as a strong weapon against Uzbekistan’s Akmaljon Isroilov in the first round of their cruiserweight (86kg) semi-final. The Iranian was not able to repeat the performance in the second as in the first and the Uzbek southpaw had the advantage after six minutes. Isroilov was fresh and energetic for the final round and he eliminated the promising Iranian by unanimous decision.
India’s Aryan and Kyrgyzstan’s Tynystan Alybayev have the same height and physical skills therefore the first round was a tactical challenge between them. The Indian moved up to the heavyweight (92kg) in the previous months and he had the routine to take the lead on the scorecards after two rounds. Alybayev gave in everything in the last round but the Indian had the strong performance today to win this semi-final.
Kazakhstan’s Rassul Assankhanov is not an experienced boxer in the international stage yet but he landed his shots with perfect timing against Uzbekistan’s Khalimjon Mamasoliyev in the first minute. The Uzbek heavyweight (92kg) boxer stepped into the gas still in the first round and he tried to control this semi-final until the last gong. Assankhanov exceeded the expectations in this contest and he was able to land nice shots but Mamasoliyev’s routine decided their meeting.
