The World Combat Games silver medallist Dana Al Jabor will represent Qatar in Chiang Mai

Qatar will send its best female boxer, World Combat Games silver medallist Dana Al Jabor to the ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships which will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from November 28 and will be lasting until December 12.

Qatar hosted the 2006 Asian Games and the 2015 World Boxing Championships and both events increased the popularity of the sport in the country.

The President of the Qatar Boxing Federation, Mr. Fahad Khaled Al-Thani has strong strategic plans to develop the sport until their important 2030 Asian Games which will be held in their capital city in Doha.

Their Dana Al Jabor was selected to participate in the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships after the decision of their management.

She claimed a bronze medal at the 2023 Pan Arab Sports Games in Algeria which was a historic debut for the female boxers in that multisport event. She was the lone Qatari female medallist in the Arab Games and she earned that medal at the light welterweight (63kg).

Following her participation in the Algerian event, she represented Qatar at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in September 2023. She was defeated by Uzbekistan’s Olympic Games quarter-finalist Raykhona Kodirova at the lightweight (60kg), but the Asian Games was a great experience for the Qatari lady.

Short after the Asian Games, she travelled to Saudi Arabia’s capital to compete in the World Combat Games on October 2023. She defeated a local boxer in the semi-finals, Mona Sharaf and despite her loss to Kuwait’s Noura Al-Mutairi, she earned a silver medal in the Games.

Dana Al Jabor competed also in the 1st and 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Events in Busto Arsizio and in Bangkok which increased her international experience at the women’s lightweight (60kg).
