The winners of the Myanmar National Sports Festival are aiming for medals in the 2025 SEA Games

The 5th edition of the Myanmar National Sports Festival was held in Nay Pyi Taw where four female and five male boxers earned their gold medals.

Myanmar hosted the 2013 Southeast Asian Games which was their best event in the recent 20 years of boxing.

The developing Myanmar claimed one silver and two bronze medals in the 2022 edition of the Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam. Their team was stronger in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia with six bronze medals in boxing.

The National President’s Cup winner Mya Moe Thu from Yangon moved down to the women’s light flyweight (50kg) and she defeated the Tanantharyi Division’s Aye Aye Mu in the first female final.

Thin Thin Khine had a gold medal from the last National President’s Cup and she made a successful debut in her new category, at the women’s flyweight (52kg) where she succeeded against Mandalay’s Thet Htar Bo.

Tanantharyi Division’s soldier, Htar Htar Nwe is one of the most experienced female boxers in Myanmar and she was too strong for all of her rivals in the National Sports Festival, including her final opponent, Kayin’s Nan Thandar Theint.

Chin’s Kim Sian Deih Sang also moved down one category and she proved also her talent at the women’s featherweight (57kg). Kim is aiming for a place in their 2025 SEA Games squad and she had the skills to beat Chan Pyae Soe in the final of the Nationals.

Kayin’s first title in the National Sports Festival was achieved by Saw Shwe Win at the men’s flyweight (51kg). Mandalay’s pride, Zaw Zaw Naing had a great finish against Shine Nge and he succeeded at the men’s bantamweight (54kg).

Yangon’s La Min Ko Ko was one of the heroes at the 2024 National President’s Cup and he continued his winning path in the National Sports Festival as well. He demonstrated his power against Kachin’s Shane Htet Ko Ko and he has strong chance now to represent Myanmar in the international stage as well.

Kachin’s Nokhe Mhal made a strong debut at the light welterweight (63.5kg) to beat Sai Naung of Mandalay in the Sports Festival. Sagain’s Aung Zin Htike moved back from the middleweight (75kg) to the light middleweight (71kg) for this National Sports Festival but none of the opponents were able to stop him.
