The Turkmenistan Elite National Championships is underway in Ashgabat
The Turkmenistan Elite National Championships started in their capital city in Ashgabat to select the best of the bests in the boxing country.
Their former national team boxer and the 3-star Referee & Judge Mr. Ishanguly Meretnyyazov is one of the key officials in the Turkmenistan National Championships who worked also in several ASBC Championships during his career.
The Secretary General of the Turkmenistan Boxing Federation, Mr. Durdymammet Kuljayev arranged the organizational matters of the National Championships which is the first elite competition for them in 2025.
The core of their best boxers competed in Chiang Mai at the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships but new younger aces could be joined them in the new edition of the Elite National Championships.
The management of the Turkmenistan Boxing Federation had to cancel their recent Elite National Cup in December 2024 due to the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships which took place in Chiang Mai, Thailand and overlapped the planned national event.
Boxers from all regions of Turkmenistan such as Ahal, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary are attending in the National Championships in Ashgabat.
Boxers who were born between 1985 and 2006 are eligible to participate in the Turkmenistan Elite National Championships in Ashgabat.
Their Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov earned a bronze medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou and he competed in the recent ASBC Championships as well. Turkmenistan’s next ace is Saparmyrat Odayev who began his international career with a silver medal at the 2018 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships.
Their ASBC Asian Championships bronze medallist Nuryagdy Nuryagdyyev finished his active boxing career but several of the youngsters have huge future potentials such as Dovlet Muhanov, Mukhammetguly Yklymov, Resul Jumayev and Muhammet Babayev.
