The Technical Meeting of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships was held in Bangkok where record number of 312 boxers will be attending from 34 nations
The Technical Meeting of the new edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships was held in the Grand Tulip Hotel which is the official accommodation place of the delegations in Bangkok. The ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships is an important step in the road to the 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships and to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The Technical Delegate of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships Mr. Pat Fiacco of Canada led the Technical Meeting of the event. President of the Thailand Boxing Association Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira and Secretary General of the Thailand Boxing Association Mr. Chaiwat Chotima welcomed the delegations in the Technical Meeting.
ASBC President and AIBA Vice-President Mr. Anas Alotaiba and the whole ASBC team are proud of the numbers of boxers and in terms of the number of the countries which are attending in Bangkok. ASBC Executive Director Mr. Ali Salameh welcomed all of the participants and underlined the importance of the event.
Altogether 114 women and 198 men boxers will be attending in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. 34 countries arrived to Bangkok out of the 36 registered nations which is record in the history of the competition.
The following 34 nations are attending in Bangkok: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Yemen.
The ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships will be held in two sessions each day excluding the finals. 29 Referees & Judges will be working in the event including 7 non-Asians who will be all supervised by four experienced Referees & Judges Evaluators in Bangkok. The equipments of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships were provided by the company of Green Hill while the boxing rings are provided by Wesing.
Mr. Pat Fiacco informed all delegations about the schedule of the competition, the competition venue, the coaches’ requirements, the official draw, the scoring system, the new rules, the equipments, the requirements during the competition and other important issues as well. All participants shall to follow the AIBA Disciplinary Code and respect for all rules of the championships.
The important new rules are the followings in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships
– Personal gloves will be not allowed in the event
– Professional handwraps must be worn by both male and female boxers during the competition
– No red or partially red colored gumshield may be worn
– Boxers can wear red or blue vests and shorts or as new rule country colours during the competition
– Boxers shall not be allowed to have tape in the competition
– Female boxers as history making can wear Hijab at the very first time in the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships
Bout Review Process
– Bout Review Process will be testing if the wrong decision has been made
– Every team received two yellow cards during the Sport Entries Check
– After one minute of the bout the coach shall to show yellow card to the referee and have to fill the bout review
– Swiss Timing will be flagged the bout in the system
– Special cameras will be slowing down the bout after the session to review the protested match
– Observer is a new position in the AIBA events who is responsible for all controls
– If the coach loses the decision the National Federation have to pay 1,000 USD
