The Sri Lankan Department of Sports Development supports the success of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships

The Director General of Sports at the Sri Lankan Department of Sports Development Professor Rear Admiral Shemal Fernando informed the President of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka, Dr. Anuruddha Shanaka Bandara in an official letter to conclude the upcoming ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in the highest level.
The event period of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in the city of Colombo, Sri Lanka is between May 10 and 24.
Mr. Fernando’s approval stated to the use of the Sugathadasa National Sports Complex in Colombo between May 12 and 23 which is the competition period of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships.
The ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships is important for the Sri Lankan sports authorities to make that happen in high international standard, to increase the international relations, to promote Sri Lanka’s sport tourism. Their next goal is to make the event memorable and comfortable for all of the participants in Sri Lanka’s capital.
The President of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka Dr. Anuruddha Shanaka Bandara arranged the previous national level competitions in international standard with big screens, cultural shows, live streaming and ring speaker to promote boxing in the country.
Sri Lanka hosted the Lion’s Cup in Colombo and the Three Nations Meeting in Pennala in 2014 which were their last international competitions in the country. Sri Lanka organized the 1967 Asian Boxing Championships and two editions of the South Asian Games. The Sri Lankans have never hosted any of the ASBC Championships yet therefore the upcoming event in May will be a new milestone in their history.
Lee than forty days left until the start of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships and the handbook, furthermore the logo of the event have been introduced a few weeks ago.
The boxers who were born in 2003, 2004, 2005 and in 2006 will be eligible to participate in the U22 age group in Colombo.
The boxers who are members of the 2007 and 2008 age groups will have the right to compete in the youth part of the busy championships.
