Jordan’s Ali Bani Yaseen and United Arab Emirates’ Abdullah Alnaji met in the first bout of the entire championship at the 35kg weight class. Jordan’s pride was smaller than the local opponent and he moved forward from the first seconds effectively to take the lead on the judges’ scorecards. The boxer from the UAE was too static in the second and third rounds therefore Bani Yaseen won the opening bout in Al Ain.
Uzbekistan’s first boxer in action was Yakhyo Komilov who overcame Mongolia’s Tuguldur Munkhbat in the attacks in the opening round. Komilov’s right-handed shots were dangerous in the end of the first round and the Bosnian & Herzegovian referee counted the Mongolian after these punches. Komilov’s dominance was even more in the second round and the Uzbek stopped his Mongolian southpaw opponent in this 35kg preliminary bout.
Tajikistan’s next boxer in action, Firuzjon Boymatov exceeded the expectations in his first contest against Kazakhstan’s Aslan Kairanbay and he had the advantage on the scorecards after two rounds. The smaller Tajik was a hard target for the taller Kazakh and his outstanding footwork guaranteed his success in the first bout of the 37kg weight class.
Uzbekistan’s southpaw Kamronbek Bakhodirov lives and trains in their capital city in Tashkent and he impressed in the Schoolboys National Championships where he defeated five boxers. The 14-year-old Uzbek had to meet a dangerous opponent, Marat Velbovets of Ukraine who made a historic debut for his nation in an Asian Championships. Following two close rounds, the decisive third was for Bakhodirov who landed more shots than his Ukrainian opponent.
Following Kazakhstan’s first success in the championship, Qatar’s Mohammed Saeed Al-Marri met Saudi Arabia’s Azam Al-Omari at the 43kg weight class. Both boxers landed several punches in the first round but the smaller talent from Saudi Arabia had a 4:1 advantage on the judges’ scorecards. The Saudi boxer worked slightly better in their meeting and he joined the last eight in this busy category.
Aryan Choudhary won India’s first bout in the championship Al Ain where he eliminated Mongolia’s best 43kg boxer, Dalaitseren Batbold. Kyrgyzstan’s first boxer in action was Muslim Pansher who started the opening round well against Tajikistan’s Damir Nazarov and he tried to keep the best distance. The Tajik 43kg schoolboy performed better in the second round but Pansher’s right-handed jabs decided their bout in the third.
Kazakhstan’s Emir Mukhit attacked from the first seconds against India’s Justin Lalthanpuia and he landed only multiple shots in the opener. The Indian found the best fighting distance in the second part of the first round but Mukhit had a great finish to take the period in each scorecard. Mukhit proved his extraordinary technical skills in his first challenge in Al Ain and he won the best bout of the session.
United Arab Emirates’ 14-year-old Ahmed Al-Mesmari was a competitive rival for Kyrgyzstan’s Nursultan Zhumataliyev in the first round of their 46kg division meeting. The Kyrgyz boy received the right instruction in the first break from his coaches and after his permanent attacks and two standing counts, the referee stopped their bout.
Ukraine’s first boxer in Al Ain, Marat Velbovets impressed against one of the Uzbek favourites but their Bohdan Shakytko was even better in his opener. The Ukrainian talent was energetic in the attacks against Mongolia’s Telmuun Tuvshintur and he had the strong advantage on the judges’ scorecards. The Mongolian came back to the contest in the second with some effective jabs but Shakytko knocked him down in the third round and he has won their meeting by a stoppage.
Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Yu Hao felt in the first round that he has the skills to beat Tajikistan’s more experienced Usmonjon Boronov. Chinese Taipei did not have successes in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships but Cheng’s brave attempt delivered for him a surprise success in Al Ain.
Ukraine’s Bohdan Smoliak delivered the next surprise in this 49kg weight class, he eliminated the best boxer from the recent Kyrgyz Schoolboys National Championships, Erbol Baratakhunov in one of the tightest contests of the day. The next Ukrainian schoolboy, Matviy Shvaiko used his longer reach well enough against Tajikistan’s Bilol Davlatov and he joined the quarter-finals at the 55kg weight class.
Kyrgyzstan’s strong duo such as Rizvan Isayev (52kg) and Abdyrazzak Abdymanapov (55kg) both used their strengths against boxers from Jordan and Nepal today. Following Abdymanapov’s RSC triumph, Kazakhstan’s tall Aliimran Aliyev finished his job quickly against Chinese Taipei’s Wang Bo En at the 61kg weight class.
