The registrations are still open for Spain’s new event, the 1st Enrique Rodriguez Cal U22 Memorial Tournament
Spain’s next international competition will be a new event on the boxing map, the Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament for the U22 female and male boxers in Palencia on September 18-24.
The 1st edition of the Enrique Rodriguez Cal “Dacal” Memorial Tournament is an excellent option for the preparations to the forthcoming European U22 Boxing Championships, European Cup and the Panamerican Games.
Palencia is located in the Castilla y Leon region, north from Madrid and the distance is only 40km from the capital of the region, Valladolid. All of the teams will be welcomed in the Valladolid Airport and transportations from the Madrid Adolfo Suarez Barajas Airport are possible for some extra costs.
The Royal Spanish Boxing Federation’s first international event in 2023, the Boxam U22-Youth-Junior Tournament was held in La Nucia, Alicante region with success on May. The Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament is their next competition while the Boxam Elite Tournament will close their year on November.
The first edition of the Enrique Rodriguez Cal U22 Memorial Tournament or shortly known as “Dacal” is open for all of the National Federations. All of the delegations have to pay for their accommodation via bank transfer not later than August 18. The competition venue will be the Pabellon Municipal de Palencia.
Enrique Rodriguez Cal was a famous Spanish boxer who earned historic results for the country during the 1970s and died in 2022. He earned bronze medals, the first top boxing results for Spain at the Munich 1972 Olympic Games and at the Havana 1974 World Boxing Championships. Rodriguez claimed gold in the Mediterranean Games twice and he bagged two medals in the European Boxing Championships in 1973 and in 1975.
