The record holder Asian Champion, Torekhan Sabyrkhan won his opener at the Dildabekov Youth Tournament

Kazakhstan’s record-breaking four-times Asian Champion Torekhan Sabyrkhan impressed in the first competition day at the Dildabekov Prizes Youth Tournament in the city of Turkestan where the international event opened with seventeen bouts.

The number of the participating boxers is 116 and the 2006 and the 2007 born boxers are eligible to compete in the Dildabekov Prizes Youth Tournament. The new edition of the Dildabekov Prizes Youth Tournament covers all of the 13 male weight classes from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg).

Mr. Mukhtarkhan Dildabekov was a famous Kazakh super heavyweight boxer in the end of the 1990s and beginning of the 2000s. He earned a silver at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, a gold at the Bangkok 1998 Asian Games, a silver at the Houston 1999 World Boxing Championships.

Two Kazakhs such as Dias Berikbay from the Zhetysu region and Nurbek Azadov from the Almaty region opened the entire tournament at the minimumweight (48kg) and the first won their meeting unanimously.

Dzhambul region’s Yerbol Abdraimov has strong connections in boxing and he impressed against Birzhan Nurymbetov in the next bout of the minimumweight (48kg). Almas Khinekin from the Atyrau region was the third winner in the smallest weight category during the opening day of boxing.

Pavlodar region’s Mukhamedali Turekhanov controlled the first round against Almaty’s Ayan Asenov and he was able to continue the strong performance until the last gong in their featherweight (57kg) preliminary bout.

Uzbekistan’s 17-year-old Kakhkharjon Usubov spends his first year in the youth age group but he had the strength and the great finish against Abdimalik Adilbek to win this featherweight (57kg) contest.

Aleksey Khavantsev won the lightweight (60kg) in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Astana and the tall boxer opened his campaign successfully against a promising boxer, Bauyrzhan Muslim. Kazakhstan’s youth No.1, their four-time Asian Champion Torekhan Sabyrkhan also boxers in the first competition day but as expected he made a quick stoppage against Adil Kasymov from the Pavlodar region in the first round of the welterweight (67kg).
