The planned Ulaanbaatar Box Cup has cancelled due to the host city agreement of the East Asian Youth Games
The Mongolian Boxing Federation had the plan to re-introduce their international event, the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup after five years of break this summer. Mongolia’s main elite international boxing tournament for the women and men boxers was planned to be hosted on August 21-28 but the event has been cancelled due to the host city contract of the East Asian Youth Games.
Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar will be the host of the upcoming East Asian Youth Games between August 16 and 23. Due to the host city contract of the multisport event, the overlapping of the East Asian Youth Games, the Mongolian Boxing Federation must cancel the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup.
“The city and the NOC hereby confirm that no international or domestic sporting events without connection of the East Asian Youth Games shall take place within the city during the month preceding the Opening Ceremony and the month following the Closing Ceremony of the Games,” stated in the host city contract of the East Asian Youth Games.
Mr. Batnasan Tsoodol, the Secretary General of the Mongolian Boxing Federation, informed the stakeholders and the National Federations about the cancellation of the annual Ulaanbaatar Box Cup.
