The Pakistan National Boxing Championships starts in Karachi

The Pakistan’s next boxing event will be the 41st Elite Men’s National Championships and the 5th Elite Women’s Boxing Championships at Karachi, Sindh region on February 10-15.
The venue of the new edition of the National Championships will be the KPT Sports Complex in Karachi which is near to the huge football stadium.
Karachi hosted several previous events including the 2005 edition of the Asian Junior Boxing Championships, the All Pakistan Amir Khan Tournament, the Green Hill Tournament and plenty of National Championships.
The Pakistan National Boxing Championships is open for all of the regions, cities and the teams from the armed forces in Karachi. The teams from the Army, the Air Force, the Navy and the Police could be among the bests in National Championships.
Pakistan competed in all levels of boxing in the recent years and the country sent boxers to the junior, youth, U22 and elite competitions as well.
Pakistan Boxing Federation had significant changes in the previous weeks and they have a new leadership. Mr. Muhammad Khalid Mahmood stepped down as President of the Pakistan Boxing Federation and the ex-Secretary General of the PBF, Mr. Nasir Ijaz Tung was elected as the new President in the South Asian country.
The Chairperson of the Pakistan Boxing Federation is Mr. Begum Ishrat Ashraf who will the head of the organisation to deal with the government and international assignments.
One of their top boxers, Zohaib Rasheed claimed bronze medals at the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and at the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships in 2022, in the same year which was Pakistan’s comeback to the podiums after nearly two decades of hiatus.
The women’s boxing in Pakistan is also in developing stage, their best female boxers competed in the recent Asian Games and other events.
