The new edition of the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup will be held in the end of August

The Ulaanbaatar Box Cup will return to the official boxing agenda following the decision of the Mongolian Boxing Federation. Mongolia’s main elite international tournament for the women and men boxers will be held on August 21-28.

Mr. Batnasan Tsoodol, the Secretary General of the Mongolian Boxing Federation, confirmed the date of the international event. The new edition of the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup will be one of the last options as preparations and team selections before the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games.

The Mongolians impressed and earned several medals in the previous ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships, the Women’s World Boxing Championships and Men’s World Boxing Championships. The best Mongolians are aiming for spots in the Olympic Qualifiers and the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup will be their final test before the Asian Games.

The last edition was held in 2018 before the Asian Games and the host Mongolians, Thailand, Russia, Chinese Taipei, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and India shared the gold medals five years ago. Mongolia’s stars, the Asian Games Erdenebat Tsendbaatar, and Chinzorig Baatarsukh, furthermore Chinese Taipei’s World Champion Chen Nien Chin and Thailand’s Chuthamat Raksat were among the winners in Ulaanbaatar. Ulaanbaatar hosted the 2019 edition of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and their Federation is ready to arrange a new international event after three and a half years. The team delegations’ handbook of the upcoming Ulaanbaatar Box Cup will be launched in the upcoming weeks.
