The Mongolian Olympic Start Championships opens with 82 preliminary contests in Ulaanbaatar’s main square

The Mongolian Olympic Start Championships began in their capital city in Ulaanbaatar where altogether 82 preliminary contests are in the schedule of the first competition day.

The competition is holding in two rings due to the high number of participants where the number of the female boxers is 46 and record-breaking 381 male talents are also on the board of the Mongolian Olympic Start.

The Mongolian Olympic Start Championships will remember one of their previous famous boxer and coach Mr. Bandi Damdinjav who passed away a few years ago.

The Mongolian Olympic Start will promote boxing to the public and the next generation therefore their management decided to host the event in the Sukhbaatar Square which is the main venue in the city center.

Ulaanbaatar hosted several of the national events but the Mongolian Boxing Federation is trying to support the development of the regions as well. Their Junior National Championships was held in the South part of the country in Umnugovi a few weeks ago.

There are altogether 26 weight categories for the kids and schoolboys in the Mongolian Olympic Start. Besides to the host Mongolians, one of their strong neighbors, Kazakhstan also sent young hopefuls to the competition.

The smallest boxers will compete in the 28kg weight class where the number of the participants is record-breaking 26. The 30kg weight class is also popular among the Mongolian kids, 25 young talents entered to the competition as the official draw confirmed it.

The young female boxers are also able to participate in the Mongolian Olympic Start Championships in several categories: the 34kg, 36kg, 38kg, 40kg, 42kg, 44kg, 46kg, 48kg, 50kg, 54kg, 57kg and +57kg.

The Mongolian Olympic Start Championships is a selection competition for the upcoming ASBC Asian Junior-Schoolboys-Schoolgirls Boxing Championships which moved into a new date in Abu Dhabi, starting from August 27.
