The Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament will take place in Kostanay on April 22-28

Kazakhstan arranged dozens of national and international events in the recent half year and the invitation file has been issued to one of their next competitions, the Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament.

Kostanay is one of the important boxing regions in Kazakhstan and their management already decided to host three international competitions in 2024. Mrs. Svetlana Mahleyt is the engine and the main organizer of the events in Kostanay, which have been added to the 2024 Boxing Calendar.

Their first competition in 2024 the city of Kostanay will be the annual Aleksandr Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament. The competition will be held for the 2008 and 2009 born boxers in Kostanay between April 22 and 28.

The junior competition was named after Mr. Aleksandr “Alex” Miroshnichenko who claimed bronze medal at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games and silver at the Moscow 1989 World Boxing Championships. The super heavyweight boxer who represented the Soviet Union during his career, died in Kostanay in 2003.

The junior competition will be held in 14 weight classes: 44kg, 46kg, 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg and +80kg.

The payment for the meals and the accommodations is 50 USD per person per day in the upcoming Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament.

Three super talented junior boxers earned their titles in the last edition of the Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament on April 2024. Kazakhstan’s Igor Solovyev earned a silver medal at the Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup and he moved up to the light middleweight (70kg) successfully, taking the title in Kostanay.

Following his bronze medal at the 2023 Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup, Bakytzhan Aitmukhanov switched to the light heavyweight (80kg) and stopped all of his opponents in Kostanay. Beksultan Kairatuly, the silver medallist from Azerbaijan, subdued his rivals at the heavyweight (+80kg) in this event one year ago.

Among the winners from last year, Kazakhstan’s technician Aldiyar Bakhadur could be one of the stars in the upcoming 2024 edition.
