The Inter-Clubs Junior National Championships supported Pakistan’s selections for Astana

The Pakistan Boxing Federation’s Inter-Clubs Junior National Championships supported the selections for the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. The competition was held in the city of Faisalabad and their best female and male junior talents all competed there from all of the regions.

The Inter-Clubs Junior National Championships had four competition days in Pakistan and among the winners only the bests have been selected to participate in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships.

The ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships will be starting in Astana, Kazakhstan with its first competition day on October 23 and today was the main arrival day for the delegations.

Pakistan had medals in the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships, at the ASBC Asian Youth Junior Boxing Championships and at the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in 2022 after so many years of hiatus. The country sent boxers to the recent Asian Games as well which was their last appearance in the international stage.

Soban Rehman is a 16-year-old talent who will be competing for Pakistan at the junior featherweight (57kg) in Astana.

Their best hope, Muhammad Shahzad was Junior National Champion in Pakistan and he impressed in several previous competitions at the lightweight (60kg).

Pakistan is aiming for its first male junior medal since the 2004 edition of the competition when it was still called as Asian Cadet Boxing Championships and Vietnam hosted it.
