The Ibraimov Prizes Women’s Tournament started with a marathon program in Almaty

The Ibraimov Prizes Women’s Tournament is underway in the busy city of Almaty, Kazakhstan where a marathon program featured in the first day of boxing.

Almaty is the former capital city of Kazakhstan and it is still the largest city in the country with the population of more than 2 million. Almaty located in the foothills of the Trans-ili Alatau mountains and it is famous of its national parks, innovation centres, winter sport facilities and boxing schools as well.

The 2009 and 2010 born boxers are eligible to compete in the Ibraimov Prizes Women’s Junior Tournament in Almaty and many of these young talents have already strong international experience as well.

The competition was named after Mr. Yermakhan Ibraimov, who claimed gold medal at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and he was World Champion, Asian Games winner and Asian Champion during his impressive boxing career. Ibraimov won the big four and he became one of the most successful boxers of Kazakhstan in all-times.

Mr. Yermakhan Ibraimov is now responsible for the next generation of boxers in Kazakhstan to find the best talents in all regions and support the younger age groups. His presence in Kazakhstan’s boxing guarantee their successes in the upcoming years.

The number of the participating junior girls was 160 in Almaty one year ago where one of the local squads from the Karagandy region earned four gold medals while the Uzbeks took three titles in this strong event.  

The number of the junior girls in the new edition is even more, 175 youngsters are participating in Almaty.

The pinweight (46kg) is a busy category in the event and all of the favourites such as Diana Aytbayeva, Shugyla Zharas, Milana Inshina, Diana Yerdullayeva, furthermore Uzbekistan’s Farangiz Usvaliyeva and Mongolia’s Altanzul Altangadas all advanced to the next stage of boxing in Almaty.

The light flyweight (48kg) is another strong category in the Ibraimov Prizes Tournament and seven out of the eight winners finished their contests quickly. Dzhambul region’s Inkar Ashir was the only one in this weight class who won her bout by points decision n the first competition day.
