The IBA Women’s Elite World Boxing Championships will be held in Nis, Serbia on March 8-17
The next edition of the IBA Women’s Elite World Boxing Championships will be held in Nis, Serbia on March 8-17 this year. The registrations for the upcoming championships are open for the National Federations until February 20.
Nis is the third largest city in Serbia with the population of 260,000 with its suburbs and the administrative center of the Nisava District. Nis is a historic city, built by the time of the Roman Empire and it has a fortress, memorial park, chapels, monuments and other important sightseeing.
The women’s boxers will be able to participate in all of the twelve official weight categories from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the heavyweight (+81kg) in Nis.
Serbia hosted the 2021 edition of the IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships in Belgrade with great successes. The host country claimed only one bronze medal in that event three and half years ago and their local girls are planning to do that better.
The President of the Serbian Boxing Federation, Mr. Nenad Borovcanin is expecting the participation of 500 female boxers from 100 nations at the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Nis.
Twenty-six Asian boxers earned at least a medal in the last 2023 edition of the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and among them thirteen remained their chance alive to win the competition in New Delhi, India. The Asians bagged eight gold medals in the two final competition days earning two-thirds of all titles in India.
Out of the participating 324 boxers, 121 were Asians at the 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi, India.
Afghanistan, China, India, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kuwait, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam were the 19 participating Asian nations in the last edition of the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.
