The host team will compete with 14 boxers at the Bhutan International Invitational Tournament

Bhutan will compete with six female and eight male boxers Bhutan International Invitational Tournament which will be held in their capital city in Thimphu from April 11.

The Bhutan Boxing Federation arranged a joint training camp before the competition from April 8 to strengthen their ties with the region’s best boxing nations.

The four nations friendly event will be competing in the event in Thimphu from April 11 where eight female and six male weight categories have been added to the official program.

Thimphu is Bhutan’s most important city, occupies in a beautiful valley and it is known for its monasteries, government palace and Buddhist sites.

The former two-time South Asian Games competitor Mr. Girchungla is the head coach of the national team in Bhutan who led the team in the recent training sessions to prepare well for the international competition.

Kinley Yangden earned her first national medal in 2020 and she had the strong progress in the recent years to show her tactical skills in the upcoming event. Kinga Wangmo competed in a dual match against Bangladesh one year ago and she won that bout easily.

Sangay Choden and Chimi Wangmo both have six years of experience in the national stage of boxing and the duo will represent Bhutan’s promising team in Thimphu. Their two additional female boxers are Sonam Choden and Tashi Lhamo in this four nations’ tournament.

A flyweight talent, Tashi Yoezer is the most experienced male international boxer in Bhutan currently despite his young age. Migma Dorji participated in the last edition of the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan and he was also involved to the national team.

Dorji Wangdi competed in the 2019 South Asian Games in Nepal and he returned to the national team after a short break. Kezang Dorji competed in the national events in the recent seven years with successes but he does not have international experience yet.

Tandin Wangchuk, Sonam Tobgay, Sherab Loday and Kinley Dorji are the further male boxers in their national team which participates in the 4 Nations Tournament.
