The first ever National Technical Officials Course was held in Sri Lanka

The Referees and Judges Commission of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka organized its first-ever National Technical Officials Course. This new milestone in Sri Lanka’s boxing life will support the professionalism and the better work of the NTOs in the upcoming national competitions.

The comprehensive National Technical Officials Course was held during the 47th Sri Lankan National Sports Festival and the sessions were the combinations of theoretical lesions with practical trainings. The written and the practical examinations took place in the final day of the Course and increased the knowledge of the participants.

The Instructors of the National Technical Officials Course were the Deputy Technical Delegate and ITO Mr. Hemantha Weerasinghe, another Sri Lankan ITO, Mr. Wasantha Kumara, 3-stars officials such as Mr. Rukman Wekadapola and Mr. Udeni Kiridena and the international ringside doctor, Dr. Tharanga Aruggoda.

Lisanthi Sumanadasa, Vindya Roshini, S.K. Karunarathna and Sunanda Godawithana have passed the examinations successfully and they have the right to work as National Technical Officials (NTO) in the forthcoming boxing events in Sri Lanka.

An official awarding ceremony will take place for the newly qualified National Technical Officials at the Royal MAS Arena in Sri Lanka’s capital today. The ceremony will be held during the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka’s Intermediate Boxing Tournament in Colombo.

The Sri Lankans will be participating in the boxing tournament of the Asian Games following their return to the international stage in 2022.
