The famous Duisenkul Shopokov Memorial Tournament will start in Bishkek on April 28
One of the strongest Asian elite international competitions, the Duisenkul Shopokov Memorial Tournament will be held at the Kozhomkul Sports Palace in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan between April 28 and May 4 this year.
Bishkek is the capital city of Kyrgyzstan and the general venue of several boxing events including the Duisenkul Shopokov Memorial Tournament which has nearly 50 years of traditions.
The team delegations’ handbook and the invitations have been issued both in English and in Russian languages as well. Kyrgyzstan’s main elite international tournament is growing years by years and more nations joined the Shopokov Memorial where the number of the participating boxers are usually 140-180.
The competition period of the Shopokov Memorial Tournament is April 29 and May 3 and teams can arrive to Bishkek on April 28.
The event was named after Mr. Duisenkul Shopokov, the Kyrgyz hero of the Soviet Union who died during the Great Patriotic War at the Battle of Moscow in December 1941.
Kyrgyzstan plans to invite some European countries as well to increase the popularity and brand image of the Shopokov Memorial.
The last edition of the Duisenkul Shopokov Memorial Tournament was held in 2024 and the 46th edition had 13 finals in the city of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Altogether 175 boxers competed in the last edition of the Duisenkul Shopokov Memorial Tournament from several top nations.
