The boxing world mourns Noureddine Boughanmi
The boxing world mourns Tunisia’s Noureddine Boughanmi who suddenly passed away in the recent days. The Tunisian boxer was an icon in his homeland, he claimed historic results for the North African country.
Noureddine Boughanmi competed internationally first at the 1981 edition of the Trofeo Italia in Venice where he won is opening bout. He represented Tunisia at the 1982 Golden Belt Tournament in Romania and other international events in North Africa and South Europe.
Morocco hosted the 1983 Mediterranean Games and Boughanmi defeated all of his rivals in the event and earned a gold medal at the featherweight (57kg). He was an Olympian boxer in the Los Angeles 1984 edition and competed for Tunisia in further events in 1985 and in 1986.
Noureddine Boughanmi met also the US legend, Muhammad Ali when the superstar visited Tunis during his North African trip.
May his soul will rest in eternal peace in Tunisia.
