The biggest ever Ruska Tournament will be held from September 7 but the LOC still accepts registrations

The biggest ever Ruska Tournament will be held in Finland’s amazing city, in Rovaniemi starting from September 7. The registration deadline was August 15 but the local organizers confirmed that they would accept extra additions and applications from any National Federations until the start of the International Santa Claus Ruska Tournament.

The next edition of the International Santa Claus Ruska Tournament will take place for the elite women and men boxers in the picturesque city of Rovaniemi, Lapland, North Finland on September 7-11. The Ruska Tournament has such a bright tradition and several of the stars of world boxing competed in Rovaniemi during the previous decades.

The city of Rovaniemi is located in the north part of Finland, in Lapland and it is the capital of Santa Claus. As the Santa Claus will be there also in the Ruska Tournament which will make the event one of the unique competitions in the entire world.

Lapland is worldwide known about its Arctic Circle, Santa Claus, and Aurora Borealis, lakes, beautiful environment, untouched nature, fantastic flora and fauna. Rovaniemi is famous for its wonderful wildlife, it is usual to see reindeers, rabbits, foxes, bears, otters, elks, owls, wolverines, mooses or marten. 

The arrival of the participating teams to Rovaniemi is September 7 and the departure of the delegations from Finland after the finals is September 11. The competition will be held in all of the twelve women and thirteen elite male weight categories in Rovaniemi, Finland. One of the IBA 3-stars Referee & Judge, Mr. Jarno Mustonen is the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee and the engine of the tournament.

The first Ruska Tournament was held in 1984 and the last edition took place with great success in September 2022. The venue of the event is the Santasport Olympic Training Centre Rovaniemi which is located by the Ounasvaara Hills, just 2km from the downtown of Rovaniemi.

There are direct flights from the Helsinki International Airport and Rovaniemi has flight connections with several European cities. The local organizers will provide free transport from the Rovaniemi Airport to the Santasport Olympic Training Centre.
