The best Iranian youth boxers train together in Tehran until the start of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships
The management of the Iranian Boxing Federation arranged a long training camp for their youth national team which has been preparing for the forthcoming ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. The ASBC competition to be started in Astana, Kazakhstan on July 14 and the Iranians will stay in their camp until July 13.
Reza Mahdipour is the head coach of the youth national team selected a 10-strong team for the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. Former national star boxer Morteza Sepahvandi, Iman Tayebi and Morteza Khafaei are the supporting coaches of their youth national team.
The team spent the first part of the training camp in Khorramabad city in Lorestan province but their coaches decided to continue the next phase in Tehran. The main selection event for them was the Iranian Youth National Championships which took place a few weeks ago and out of the thirteen winners, eight are involved to the national team.
Mehdi Kazemi (51kg) competed at the 2022 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Amman where he reached the quarter-finals and he is the smallest boxer in the training camp. Seyed Ali Akbar Mirahmadi was bronze medallist at the 2022 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and the 17-year-old talent is a strong hope at the light welterweight (63.5kg).
Iran’s super talented light middleweight (71kg) boxer, Abolfazl Shabani bagged a silver medal at the 2022 Iranian Youth National Championships which he switched into gold in 2023. Pourya Esmaeili Godarzi was the titleholder of the cruiserweight (86kg) from the 2022 Iranian Youth National Championships and he was the only one in the country who could defend his throne in 2023.
Iran’s new super heavyweight (+92kg) boxer, the 17-year-old Amir Esmaeili Vandaei represented Iran at the 2022 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and he joined the youth age group this January.
Hamed Amirzadeh Fard (60kg), Mohammadarshia Omidifar (67kg), Sam Estaki (75kg), Amirreza Malekkhatabi (80kg) and the silver medallist from the last Youth National Championships, Ali Aliakbari (92kg) are all in the training camp.
