The best boxers from Jordan and Yemen attended in a 15-day long training camp in Cuba
Among the Asian teams Jordan and Yemen spent 15 days in a training camp in Havana, Cuba to prepare well to their next main goals. Jordan’s best elite boxers such as their Rio 2016 Olympians Obada Al-Kasbeh and Hussein Iashaish were also there in the common training camp in Cuba.
Jordan sent four elite and three youth boxers to the Cuban training camp with different purposes. Their elite boxers will be competing in the Chemistry Cup in Germany soon but their main focus is on the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games which will be held in August. Their three qualified youth talents are preparing to the Budapest 2018 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which will be taking place in the same period as the Asian Games.
Italy and Venezuela trained also with the strong Cuban team in Havana and France were also there in the training camp. Cuba, Jordan, Yemen and France have done common training sessions and sparrings during their 15-day long preparation in Havana.
ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships bronze medallist Mohammad Al-Wadi is a veteran boxer at the bantamweight (56kg) but he has got still all of the potential to win key contests in the upcoming Asian Games. Rio 2016 Olympian and ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist Obada Al-Kasbeh achieved bronze in the Asian Games four years ago and his skills could be enough to repeat that performance in August.
Jordan’s Zeyad Eshaish was involved to their national elite team two years ago when he was only 18 but the young talent proved strong development in all areas of boxing and could be a sensation at the welterweight (69kg) in the Asian Games. Rio 2016 Olympic Games quarter-finalist Hussein Iashaish was also involved to the team who moved down to the heavyweight (91kg) in the recent months.
Jordan sent three boxers to the Bangkok 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships and all of them are qualified for the Budapest 2018 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships. Mohammed Al-Gharaghir (52kg), Bader Osman Samreen (64kg) and Mohammad Suleiman Younis (81kg) trained with the elite team and also with the Cuban, French and Yemeni boxers in Havana.
Yemen attended in the Bangkok 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships and their biggest talent Arab Youth Champion Sil Ghaleb Mohammad Al-Qarnas with his coach Mr. Faisal Al-Husaini attended in the Cuban training camp. Al-Qarnas will be turning to 18 only later this year but he could be Yemen’s main weapon in the upcoming years.
