The Asian Games bronze medallist Nilawan Techasuep returned to Team Thailand

Nilawan Techasuep returned to their national team and she will strengthen Team Thailand in the upcoming 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from May 24.

The 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event is the last opportunity for all of the competitors to earn quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Thailand has qualified six boxers to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through the Asian Games and the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

Chuthamat Raksat (women’s 50kg), Jutamas Jitpong (women’s 54kg), Thananya Somnuek (women’s 60kg), Janjaem Suwannapheng (women’s 66kg), Thitisan Panmot (men’s 51kg), and Bunjong Sinsiri (men’s 63.5kg) have already their flight tickets to Paris.

Nilawan Techasuep was bronze medallist in the 2018 Asian Games and she claimed a silver at the 2019 Asian Boxing Championships but in the recent one and half year she was not selected in any of the top events. The 30-year-old boxer is tall, she hang longer reach than many of her rivals and she is hungry to earn a spot at the women’s featherweight (57kg).

Baison Manikon is Asian Youth Champion and Asian U22 Champion at the women’s middleweight (75kg) and despite her fantastic technical skills, she did not qualify for the Olympic Games yet. She was only 18 when she qualified for the Tokyo Olympics and the experienced boxer plans to repeat the same in Bangkok.

The Asian Games bronze medallist Rujakran Juntrong regained his place at the men’s featherweight (57kg) following he replaced Sarawut Sukthet. A former Youth World bronze medallist Peerapat Yeasungnoen also represented Thailand in several competitions and he will return at the men’s light middleweight (71kg) for this event.

Weerapon Jongjoho, the World bronze medallist from 2021, could not qualify from Hangzhou and Busto Arsizio but he has the chance to make it happen on home soil. The Asian Champion Jakkapong Yomkhot is Thailand’s best ever heavyweight (92kg) boxer who is also aiming for a spot in the Huamark Indoor Stadium.
