Thailand’s cultural centre, Chiang Mai will host the re-scheduled ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships on the same date from November 28

The Secretary General of the Asian Boxing Confederation, Mr. Ali Salameh confirmed the new venue of the re-scheduled ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships will be Chiang Mai, Thailand in the original date, between November 28 and December 12.

The management of the Asian Boxing Confederation and the local organizers of the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships decided to move the competition from Amman, Jordan due to safety reasons which affects the region’s daily life.

The city of Chiang Mai is located in the northern region of Thailand and it is famous of its cultural and religion attractions. The city of Chiang Mai hosted the 2016 edition of the FISU University World Boxing Championships on a high level.

The management of the Asian Boxing Confederation asks all of the National Federations and their teams to continue the preparations for the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships, only the host must be changed due to the circumstances.

The elite women boxers will be able to compete in the following weight categories: 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 81kg and +81kg. The elite men boxers will have the right to participate also in 13 different weight categories: 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63.5kg, 67kg, 71kg, 75kg, 80kg, 86kg, 92kg and +92kg.

Boxers who were born between 1984 and 2005 are eligible to participate in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Amman.

The first ever Asian Boxing Championships took place in Bangkok, Thailand in 1963 and the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships will return to the country. Thailand hosted the event also in 2015 and in 2019 in the recent ten years and their National Federation has all of the experience to make it happen in the highest level.
