Thailand’s AIBA Youth World Champion teenage sensation Thitisan Panmod – My first target the ticket for Tokyo is done
Thailand has got a very young and super talented team and half of their members who competed at the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event are younger than 20. Their new flyweight (52kg) sensation Thitisan Panmod defeated Uzbekistan’s Olympic Champion Shakhobiddin Zoirov in the semi-finals and achieved finally silver medal in the capital city of Jordan.
The Thai boxer joined to the international events in 2015 as a 15-year-old junior boxer and achieved his main success at the Budapest 2018 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships where he won the light flyweight (49kg). Panmod recovered from his injuries, turned to 19 last December and as a teenager he impressed in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.
“I am very happy to earn the ticket for the Tokyo Olympic Games in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event. I am proud of the result which I achieved in Amman and as one of the Thai Olympic representatives means the world for me.
I had many tough and star opponents in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event but I was confident that I can make it. The Thailand Boxing Association, my coaches and my team fellows all supported me to get this success in the Qualifiers.
I know it will be very difficult for me in the Olympic Games and everybody will be in top form in Tokyo but I have still time to develop myself until the start. I know I have to be strong in mind during the Tokyo Olympic Games and I have to solve the fights tactically this is what I am expecting now about the event.
Currently I have to train at home but I have the chance to run and do several different exercises to keep myself in top form for the later actions,” said Thailand’s AIBA Youth World Champion teenager Thitisan Panmod during his home stay.
