Teshebayev, Usupov and Kurbanov continued their gold medal series in the Alimzhanov Youth Tournament
The Alimzhanov Youth Memorial Tournament was held in Kyrgyzstan in the recent days which competition was another international preparation event for the main goals of 2019. Kyrgyzstan’s Muso Teshebayev, Baygazy Malik Uulu and Akhmed Usupov won the titles from the host nation’s squad but Uzbekistan’s Bekzod Turdialiyev and Tajikistan’s Ramoil Kurbanov also continued their gold medals series.
Dzhalal-Abad, which is located in Southwestern part of the Kyrgyz Republic, hosted the Alimzhanov Youth Memorial Tournament where 95 young male boxers attended in 10 men’s weight classes. 16 and 17 years-old boxers who were born in 2001 and in 2002 were eligible to take part in the Alimzhanov Youth Memorial Tournament which age group is the official 2019 youth category.
Dzhalal-Abad’s local 16-year-old talent Erzat Tashtanbekov was quarter-finalist in the Sabatarov & Abdymomunov Junior Tournament a few months ago but his gold medal at the light flyweight (49kg) was an unexpected success in the Alimzhanov Youth Tournament. The young Kyrgyz hope defeated Uzbekistan’s strong Alisher Burkhonov in the first final of the competition in Dzhalal-Abad.
Uzbekistan’s 16-year-old Bekzod Turdialiyev attended in the Murataliev Youth Memorial Tournament in Kyrgyzstan one month ago and he returned to the country but this time he claimed the gold medal of the flyweight (52kg) following his success over the local favourite Dastan Urmatbekov.
The bantamweight (56kg) was the most popular weight class in the Alimzhanov Youth Memorial Tournament in Dzhalal-Abad where 17 boxers attended for the medals. Osh region’s Samandar Torokhodzhayev claimed medals in several national events but his success over Uzbekistan’s Timurbek Dekhkonov was a surprise in Dzhalal-Abad.
Thirteen athletes fought for the title at the lightweight (60kg) where a super talented boxer won the gold medal in Dzhalal-Abad. Muso Teshebayev is one of the best Kyrgyz boxers among the 2001 born talents and he demonstrated his power against Bishkek’s Asan Abdykadyrov in the final of the Alimzhanov Youth Tournament.
Osh region’s Omurbek Mamanov claimed the next gold medal in the event following his success over Tajikistan’s Yusuf Akhmadjoni at the light welterweight (64kg). Kyrgyz Junior National Champion and Murataliev Junior Memorial Tournament winner 16-year-old Baygazy Malik Uulu impressed in the event and controlled his final against Iskender Zhumaliyev at the welterweight (69kg).
Tajikistan’s top youth boxer Ramoil Kurbanov claimed the gold medal in the Murataliev Youth Memorial Tournament in Talas, Kyrgyzstan one month ago and took bronze in the Tashkent Region International Youth Tournament in Zangiota in August. The 17-year-old middleweight (75kg) boxer dominated all of his fights in Dzhalal-Abad and won his next title in Kyrgyzstan.
Ibrokhimjon Artikov won the Murataliev Junior Memorial Tournament in 2017 and returned to Kyrgyzstan to get his next title which he accomplished against his teammate Azimjon Abdullaev. The heavyweight (91kg) gold medal was achieved by Osh region’s Nurbek Mirlanbek Uulu which was his first title in an international event.
Kyrgyzstan’s ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist Akhmed Usupov attended in the Budapest 2018 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships where he was competitive for eventual winner Aleksei Dronov of Russia. The 17-year-old Kyrgyz talent defeated Uzbekistan’s Islomjon Ismailov in the final of the super heavyweight (+91kg) and claimed the last title of the event.
