Temirzhanov, Sabyrkhan, and young Tajiks shined at the Elorda Cup on Day2

The second edition of the Elorda International Cup continued with a longer competition day in Astana, Kazakhstan today. Kazakhstan’s stars as the men’s featherweight (57kg) and the Tajiks impressed in the second day of boxing.

The Elorda Cup will be a money prize event, all of the gold medallists will earn 700 USD, the silver medallists 400 USD and the two boxers who will take the bronze medals each will get 200 USD from the local organizers. Bahrain, China, India, Japan, host Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan sent boxers to the 2nd edition of the Elorda Cup.

Kazakhstan’s two-time World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay had a crucial but successful battle against Thailand’s Chuthamat Raksat in one of the best female fights of the day. Mongolia’s young Sodon-Od Binderiya had a quick RSC success while Tajikistan’s Rukhafzo Khaknazarova was also able to win a bout at the light flyweight (50kg).

The featherweight (57kg) is super strong in Kazakhstan, firstly their Tokyo Olympian Serik Temirzhanov eliminated Nursultan Altynbek, an ASBC Asian U22 Champion on Day2. Next to that contest, the World Champion Makhmud Sabyrkhan worked hard to beat Orazbek Assylkulov in this weight class.

Kazakhstan’s Yelnur Suyunbay earned several amazing results as a youth boxer and the 20-year-old talent opened his campaign successfully in the second day of boxing. The welterweight (67kg) boxer met a former ASBC medallist, Turkmenistan’s Muhammet Berdybayev but his technical skills were enough to beat the returning neighbour.

China’s Tokyo Olympian Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan impressed in the World Boxing Championships in Tashkent last month where he earned a silver medal. The Chinese No.1 lost to a Kazakh boxer in that final but at the Elorda Cup he was able to beat a local hope, Yerassyl Zhakpekov at the light heavyweight (80kg).

Uzbekistan’s Youth World Champion Turabek Khabibullayev joined the elite age group successfully this year and he had the strong performance against India’s Sanjay today. Another Uzbek light heavyweight (80kg) boxer, Jasurbek Yuldashev had a very tough challenge against Tajikistan’s Olympian Shabbos Negmatulloev but finally he deserved to win that preliminary bout.

Tajikistan’s Shamsher Saidov is not an experienced international boxer yet but he succeeded against Kazakhstan’s Nurkadam Abdresh at the welterweight (67kg). Another Tajik hope at the cruiserweight (86kg), the National Champion Parviz Karimov also won his opener against Kazakhstan’s Zhanibek Kartbayev.
