Tastanov, Allaberganov, Norkosimov and Shakhbazov were the bests at the Uzbekistan Youth Nationals
The Uzbekistan Youth National Championships finished with its 13 final bouts in the city of Dzhizak where the title contests delivered several surprises. Among their top future stars, Sobirjon Tastanov, Nodirbek Allaberganov, Mironshokh Norkosimov and Jafarbek Shakhbazov were the bests in the Nationals.
The General Secretary of the Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee, Mr. Oybek Kasimov, the First Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation Mr. Saken Polatov visited also the finals together with their Olympic Champion star, Bakhodir Jalolov.
Boxers who were born in 2006 and in 2007 were eligible to compete in the Uzbekistan Youth National Championships which was their first selection event before the main international objectives of the year. The best Uzbek youth and junior boxers are planning to participate at the Dracula Open Tournament in Romania next month.
The total number of boxers in the Youth National Championships was 297 in the city of Dzhizak. The light welterweight (63.5kg) was the most popular category in the Youth National Championships with the participation of 37 boxers.
The local boxers from the Dzhizak region surprised in the competition with their five gold medals on home soil. Tashkent region, Andizhan region and Tashkent city each won two titles in the Youth National Championships. Participants from the Bukhara and Ferghana regions achieved the last two remaining gold medals in the event.
Sayfiddin Sobirov, a local talent earned the first title in the Youth National Championships, he won all of his five contests by unanimous decisions at the minimumweight (48kg).
Namangan’s Mukhammadgiyos Sobutkhanov was the main favourite at the flyweight (51kg) but he suffered a loss in the semi-finals and the title was achieved by the previous champion, Shakarboy Jurayev, a boxer from Dzhizak.
The two favourites such as Tashkent region’s bronze medallist from the last edition, Sobir Tastanov and Andizhan’s Mukhammadaziz Kuldoshaliyev advanced to the finals of the bantamweight (54kg) and the first won their exciting meeting in Dzhizak.
Tashkent region’s Asian Junior Champion Samandar Olimov was the highest hope at the featherweight (57kg) and he looked confident until the final bout. Tashkent city’s Nodirbek Allaberganov used the best strategy against Olimov and he won one of the best contests of the Youth Nationals.
The host region’s No.1, Mironshokh Norkosimov followed his coaches’ instructions effectively and he defeated all of his five rivals including the Asian Junior silver medallist Sunatilla Uktamaliyev in the final of the lightweight (60kg). His teammates, Makhsudkhon Meliyev (92kg) and Asilbek Ishmuratov (+92kg) triumphed over the favourites, Alisher Sodikov and Shakhzod Polvonov.
Ferghana’s Abdullokh Tokhirov had a tough opener on the Round of 32 but finally he managed to beat Asomiddin Khayriddinov. The 17-year-old boxer continued his winning path until the title of the light welterweight (63.5kg) and he defeated Elbek Bakhtiyorov as well.
Following Samandar Khabibullayev’s hard success at the light middleweight (71kg), the Asian Junior Champion Jafarbek Shakhbozov won one of the strongest categories, the middleweight (75kg). The Tashkent region’s boxer defeated Khusan Rikhsiboyev in the final while Khorezm’s Norbek Abdullayev and Bukhara’s Ruslan Esanov earned only bronze medals.
Bukhara’s Javokhir Mekhriddinov met in a top light heavyweight (80kg) final Tashkent’s Youth National bronze medallist Abbos Abdurakhimov and due to his stamina, he was able to win their narrow bout by 3:2 split decision.
