Tajikistan holds first-ever schoolgirls national tilt

Gearing up for the inaugural edition of the ASBC Asian Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships, the Tajikistan Boxing Federation hosted its historic first Schoolgirls National Championships in the city of Khudjand, Sughd Province.

The federation organized the schoolgirls competition simultaneously with the schoolboys tournament, drawing a total of 58 female fighters aged 13 and 14 years from different cities and regions of the country.

Same as the schoolboys, 19 weight categories starting from 34kg up to +80kg were featured in the schoolgirls category.

The finest young boxers bagged a gold medal apiece in the historic event while also earning a chance to represent Tajikistan in the Asian Schoolboys & Schoolgirls tilt slated November 27 to December 4 in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.

The capital city of Dushanbe lorded over the medal standings after taking eight titles even as Khatlon Region finished second with seven gold medals.

Host region Sughd, Bokhtar and Badakhshan also won golds in the national tourney.
