Strong Indian competition day with perfect performance at the AIBA World Boxing Championships

Two long preliminary sessions were held in the second competition day at the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. Kazakhstan’s Saken Bibossynov, India’s Deepak and his teammates, furthermore the Thai, the Iranian and the Japanese teams proved strong competition day in Serbia.
The following 20 Asian nations are attending in the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Belgrade: Afghanistan competes under the name of the Fair Chance Team, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tajikistan, Chinese Taipei, and Uzbekistan. The bouts will be starting with one session on Monday from 6pm.
India’s Shiva Thapa moved through to the last 32
India’s Shiva Thapa is a fantastic boxer who earned five medals in the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships between 2013 and 2021. The two-time Olympian Thapa has got 12 years of experiences in the international events therefore he had all of the advantages against Kenya’s Victor Nyadera in their meeting. The Indian light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer had five tough contests in the National Championships last month and he felt the tempo also against his African opponent. Thapa amazed in the first round of boxing and proved that he could be a favourite for at least a medal in Belgrade.
Mongolia’s Misheelt Battumur opened his campaign with a clear success
Mongolia’s ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist Misheelt Battumur moved down to the light welterweight (63.5kg) and competes in his second big event this year. The 24-year-old Mongolian progressed every year and this weight class is perfect for his height. Misheelt met with Greece’s Vasileios Makrygiannis in the first preliminary round and he felt the distance well from the opening exchanges. The Greek boxer was tough but Misheelt knew more about boxing and the Mongolian earned his first success in the AIBA World Boxing Championships.
Iran’s Ashkan Rezaei used the perfect strategy to win his contest on Day2
Iran’s Ashkan Rezaei competed in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and previously he was member of their youth national team as well. The Iranian light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer started with a good strategy against Lithuania’s Modestas Zmuidina. The Lithuanian moved ahead without any stoppage but Rezaei kept him on long and used excellent counter-punches. Zmuidina received a warning from the referee in the third round which guaranteed Rezaei’s success in Belgrade.
Ren Umemura won a quick contest for Japan
Japan’s Ren Umemura joined to the international events eight and half years ago when he claimed bronze medal at the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Shymkent. The 24-year-old Japanese moved up to the light heavyweight (80kg) two years ago and he delivered his best performance in this AIBA World Boxing Championships. Umemura landed more punches than Czech Republic’s lone boxer in Belgrade, Maxim Schejbal and took the lead on the scorecards. The younger Czech injured in the second round and Umemura secured his place in the last 32 of the category.
Somchay Wongsuwan won his debuting contest in Belgrade
Thailand Boxing Federation’s top boxer, Youth Olympic Games winner Atichai Phoemsap lost to Brazil’s Wanderson De Oliveira in the first day of boxing despite of his amazing technical skills. Their Somchay Wongsuwan also arrived to Belgrade as a medal contender in spite of his lack of activities due to the pandemic. The Thai light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer was a hard target for Israel’s EUBC European U22 Boxing Championships silver medallist Ahmad Shtiwi in the first round and he proved his impressive technical progress. Wongsuwan had world class footwork in their contest and won the bout by unanimous decision against a strong European opponent.
Tajikistan’s first success was achieved by Shabbos Negmatulloev
Tajikistan’s Shabbos Negmatulloev decided to compete once again in a big event after the Tokyo Olympic Games and prepared well to the AIBA World Boxing Championships. The 24-year-old Tajik was quarter-finalist in Hamburg four years ago and he has got enough experiences to beat several of his rivals in Belgrade. Negmatulloev was down on the scorecards after three minutes of fight against Germany’s Silvio Schierle but he received good advices from his coaches, including Khurshed Djurayev who celebrates his birthday just today. The Tajik has done a great comeback and eliminated his German rival who also competed at the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships.
Kazakhstan’s Saken Bibossynov eliminated Hasanboy Dusmatov in a top battle
Kazakhstan’s flyweight (51kg) sensation, Saken Bibossynov won bronze medals at the 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships and also at the Tokyo Olympic Games but he had to meet first with Uzbekistan’s returning Hasanboy Dusmatov who was the best boxer at the Rio 2016 Olympics. The smaller Uzbek attacked from the first seconds but Bibossynov used a clever strategy and his counter-punches worked well. The 24-year-old Kazakh was able to keep the same performance until the final gong and his speedy hooks decided one of the best contests of the day.
India’s Deepak and Thailand’s Thanarat Saengpeth won their flyweight contests
India’s ASBC Asian Boxing Championships silver medallist Deepak is one of the favourites at the flyweight (51kg) in Belgrade but he had to do his very best immediately against Kyrgyzstan’s former ASBC Asian Champion Azat Usenaliev. The 24-year-old Indian felt the tempo well enough and defeated his Kyrgyz rival with a remarkable performance. Another Asian talent, Thailand’s 19-year-old Thanarat Saengpeth never boxed out of his country yet but he won all of their junior and youth national events in the recent years. The super talented Saengpeth was faster than Guatemala’s Carlos Ramirez and dominated all of the rounds in his international debut.
Mousavi and Sumit are winners at the middleweight
Iran’s Tokyo Olympian and ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist Seyed Shahin Mousavi was the favourite against Kyrgyzstan’s Zharkynbek Turatov who replaced Islamzhan Dalibayev in the national team due to an injury. The 27-year-old Iranian kept the best fighting distance in their contest and his experiences decided their Asian battle in Belgrade. India’s 19-year-old Sumit competed at the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships this year and returned to the big events as a National Elite Champion. The Indian controlled all of the three rounds against Jamaica’s Damon O’Neill and won his opening bout in Serbia.
