Spotlight on Al Ain’s Best Female Junior Boxer – Alina Kudaigenova of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s Alina Kudaigenova defended her Asian junior title in Al Ain a few days ago as two other strong Uzbeks. The Kazakh girl not only claimed her second Asian gold medal but she was named as the Best Female Junior Boxer of the entire championships.

Kudaigenova was born in the Karagandy region, Kazakhstan on April 18 in 2008 and she began her boxing career very early below the schoolgirl level.

Kudaigenova competed in the 2023 edition of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Kazakhstan’s capital on November. Uzbekistan’s Aselya Tulegenova and Kazakhstan’s Alina Kudaigenova advanced to the finals of the junior light welterweight (63kg) in Astana where the local favourite had the 4:1 advantage on the judges’ scorecards after one round.

The Kazakh southpaw used her left-handed jabs effectively and she felt the distance also well enough to gain the control in the second round as well. Kudaigenova was a debutant in the international events last November but she won the title of the weight class and became the best in Asia nearly one year ago.

Short after her Asian junior title in Astana, she claimed a bronze medal in the 2023 Junior World Boxing Championships in Yerevan, Armenia following her loss to India’s Sachin Sathe Shrusthi in the semi-finals.

The Kazakh talent impressed once again in her next international competition at the Ibraimov Prizes Women’s Junior Tournament in Almaty this February. She defeated Uzbekistan’s Raykhona Toychiboyeva in the final of the light welterweight (63kg) in Almaty.

Kudaigenova was aiming to defend her title in the new edition of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. The 16-year-old talent landed tough hooks against India’s Yogima Kalyan in the first round of their light welterweight (63kg) final and the Kazakh had the advantage in all of the scorecards. Kudaigenova, the woman in red, not only won their contest in Al Ain but she defended her throne in this junior weight class.
