Six Asian gold medals at the 13th Nations Women’s Cup

Six competition days are concluded at the 13th Nations Women’s Cup in Sombor, Serbia where the Asian boxers achieved six gold medals.

The former two-time Asian Games winner and three-time Olympian Mr. Elshod Rasulov, the head coach of the Uzbek women’s elite national team, selected ten girls for the 13th edition of the Nations Women’s Cup to compete in Sombor, Serbia.

Kazakhstan sent its U22 female team to the Nations Women’s Cup to increase their experiences against strong rivals. Several of the Kazakhs made strong impacts on this event and among them two won their weight categories in Sombor.

Uzbekistan’s Asian U22 Champion, the 20-year-old Feruza Kazakova had a tough final at the light flyweight (50kg) against Serbia’s Tokyo Olympian Nina Radovanovic but she managed to win the contest by 3:2 split decision.

Another Uzbek girl, the Women’s World Championships bronze medallist Aziza Yokubova moved up to the flyweight (52kg) and she defeated all of her opponents including Serbia’s teenage talent, Dragana Jovanovic in the final.

Kazakhstan’s Asian Youth Champion Ulzhan Sarsenbek has just joined the elite age group this January but her debut was impressive. The powerful boxer defeated her taller teammate, a technician opponent, Zhansaya Rakhymberdi in the final of the elite bantamweight (54kg).

Uzbekistan’s Sitora Turdibekova won the Asian Elite title on May 2021 at the age of 19 and she returned to her best category, the featherweight (57kg). The Uzbek boxer was smart enough to beat Romania’s strong Claudia Nechita in the final and she celebrated a well-deserved gold medal in Serbia.

Viktoriya Grafeyeva is one of the most promising Kazakh girls who won key contests in the previous half year. The tall girl moved up to the lightweight (60kg) and she boxed from longer range to beat Uzbekistan’s Tokyo Olympian Raykhona Kodirova in the final.

Uzbekistan’s two-time Asian Youth Champion Aziza Zokirova had fantastic progress in the recent months and the 19-year-old middleweight (75kg) boxer earned the title in Sombor as well. Zokirova dominated all of the rounds against Kazakhstan’s Anastasiya Bayazitova and she earned Uzbekistan’s fourth title in Sombor. Uzbekistan’s Saidakhon Rakhmonova (48kg) and the ASBC Asian Champion Navbakhor Khamidova (66kg) both lost to local boxers in their final contests.
