Shokhr Boltekuly tourney opens with 24 bouts

The 14th Shokhr Boltekuly Memorial Tournament gets underway on August 30, with 24 exciting bouts in the preliminary round firing off the hostilities in Aktau, Kazakhstan.

Thailand’s ASBC Asian youth champion Sukthet Sarawut will open his campaign on Day 1 against Azerbaijan’s promising talent Maksud Khasmetov in the featherweight (57kg) division.

His fellow Thai standout Peerapat Yeasungnoen will also fight on the opening day as he is set to face Kazakhstan’s former national youth team member Armat Armanuly in the light middleweight (71kg) class.

Also participating in the traditional international tourney are Kazakhstan’s Olympic bronze and ASBC Asian Championships silver medalist Kamshybek Kunkabayev in super heavyweight (+92kg) and Uzbekistan’s two-time Asian champion Nodirjon Mirzakhmedov in minimumweight (48kg).

A total of 130 boxers signed for the men’s elite tilt named after the recognized founder of the sweet science in Kazakhstan.

Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan also sent strong bets to this year’s Shokhr Boltekuly tournament featuring all the 13 official men’s elite weight categories.

The event is organized by the Boxing Federation of the Mangystau Region, with Mr. Nazargali Zhanpeis serving as the head of the organizing committee and ASBC Vice-President Mr. Aziz Kozhambetov overseeing the competition.
