Abed Al-Mitani was the best boxer in the Saudi Arabian Youth National Championships
As the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships is approaching to its start more national federations are holding selection events for the Pavlodar event. The next selection event was the Saudi Arabian Youth National Boxing Championships where nine new champions have been crowned.
Saudi Arabia is a developing boxing nation in the Western Asian region which country is trying to reach better result in the international level in the upcoming years therefore their new developing programs contain more competitions to their young boxers. The three-days long Saudi Arabian Youth National Boxing Championships was held in the city of Al-Qasem.
Their Schoolboys National Championships was held in January while their Junior National Championships in February and their next event was held for the youth boxers where athletes who were born in 1998 or in 1999 could register to the competition. The competition was held in nine weight classes, only the Heavyweight class (91 kg) was not hold in the lack of any competitor.
Oqaz, Al-Taraji, Al-Noor and Damak were the most successful teams in the Saudi Arabian Youth National Championships, each of them won two gold medals in the event while the ninth title was achieved by the squad of Al-Raied. The city of Oqaz proved top performance also in the recent Saudi Arabian National Championships this year.
The first gold medal of the Saudi Arabian Youth National Championships was achieved by Abed Al-Mitani of Oqaz who defeated Mortada Ali Al-Shikh in the final of the Light Flyweight class (49 kg) and the 17-year-old talent proved one of the best performance in the selection tournament. His compatriot Abdelrahman Mohamed delivered Oqaz’s second gold medal in the national event.
Sajad Ali Al-Jassas claimed the first gold medal for Al-Taraji after beating Ali Walid Khaled in the final of the Flyweight class (52 kg). His teammate Abedallah Ali continued Al-Taraji’s winning path in the Bantamweight class (56 kg) of the Nationals. Rida Al-Damen and Ali Housen Hajri achieved gold medals for the team of Al-Noor following their triumphs in the Welterweight class (69 kg) and Middleweight class (75 kg). The last gold medal of the championships was earned by Ismaiel Mosa of Damak who was too strong for Majed Mohamed of Al-Taraji in the final of the Super Heavyweight class (+91 kg).
