Saif Mosabbah Al-Riyami and Mohamed Saeed Abdulwahed were the bests in the UAE Ramadan Junior Boxing Championships
The United Arab Emirates Boxing Federation hosted the Ramadan Junior Boxing Championships in the recent days to give chance to their young hopes to increase the experiences in competitions during the summer season. Saif Mosabbah Al-Riyami and Mohamed Saeed Abdulwahed won the titles among the juniors also in the 2017 Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships and defended their thrones in the Ramadan Junior Boxing Championships.
The junior boxers could attend in eight weight classes during the Ramadan Junior Boxing Championships. The number of the boxers in the 2017 Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships was 10 schoolboys, 20 male juniors, 7 youth boxers and 35 elite athletes in 2017. At the Ramadan Junior Boxing Championships 25 male junior athletes competed for the medals and prizes in the recent days.
United Arab Emirates sent seven young boxers to the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships to Puerto Princesa last August which was record in their boxing history. United Arab Emirates Boxing Federation also attended in the Tashkent 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships which was their first historical participation in the men’s elite level. Their youth talents attended also in the Bangkok 2018 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships.
The first gold medal of the Ramadan Junior Boxing Championships was achieved by Al Ain’s Salem Husain who defeated Ali Nabil by split decision in the final of the pinweight (46kg). The second title in the Ramadan Junior Boxing Championships was taken by Fujairah’s Khalid Abdulla Juma who spent only a short in the ring when his opponent’s ringside abandoned their unequal final fight therefore Abdulrahman Hamad claimed only silver.
Nawaf Ali Khamis of Fujairah also finished his final fight earlier than the last gong and the referee confirmed his superb RSC success over Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships bronze medallist Mohamed Yousuf at the light bantamweight (52kg). Saifedin Goul reached his career highlight with his gold medal at the featherweight (57kg) where he was too smart for Nawaf Saeed Mohammad.
Al Ain’s Saif Mosabbah Al-Riyami secured his first gold medal and national title at the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships last November and he continued his winning path also in the Ramadan Junior Boxing Championships. The 16-year-old light welterweight (63kg) boxer controlled all of the rounds when he met in the final with Salem Sultan.
Mohamed Wasfi is a new name in the United Arab Emirates’ boxing life but his stamina was enough to turn back his light middleweight (70kg) final against Saleh Sultan. Abdulrashid Bloush had two opponents in the road to the gold medal of the middleweight (75kg) but the 15-year-old boxer was able to solve both tactical mission in the Ramadan Junior Boxing Championships.
Fujairah’s Mohamed Saeed Abdulwahed claimed the gold medal in the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships half year ago when he defeated all of his rivals by RSC. The 16-year-old heavyweight (+80kg) talent repeated that same strong performance once again and defeated his rivals including Abdalla Aref for the title on a re-match after their first meeting.
