Sabyrkhan, Mukatayev and Akkalykov are the new stars in the Kazakhstan National Championships
The men’s finals delivered world class battles at the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships in the city of Karagandy on Day7 which was the last session of the busy competition. Their next generation such as Torekhan Sabyrkhan, Temirlan Mukatayev, Sabyrzhan Akkalykov and Daniyal Sabit showed their future potentials.
Karagandy hosts usually the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament in the month of December but the regional federation supported to arrange the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships as one of the last events of the year.
The Kazakh elite boxers impressed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships earning several titles in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Their boxers also achieved medals in the recent Paris Olympic Games earlier this summer.
The former World Champion Temirtas Zhussupov had an impressive semi-final success at the minimumweight (48kg) and he continued his winning path against Dzhambul region’s new hope, Nurzat Ongarov. The Asian silver medallist Daniyal Sabit is back on track with upgraded skills and he defeated another U22 talent, Bekzat Aldamzharov at the flyweight (51kg) final.
Akmola region’s Timur Kabdeshov not only defeated Baglan Kenzhibek at the bantamweight (54kg) final but he overwhelmed his opponent. The favourite of the featherweight (57kg), Assylzhan Serikbay, the Bocskai Memorial Tournament winner, suffered the tightest possible loss to Daulet Moldashev of Abay in the final.
Pavlodar region’s World silver medallist Serik Temirzhanov proved impressive performance in the entire championships at the lightweight (60kg) but he had a surprise loss to the younger Talgat Syrymbetov in one of the best finals of the National Championships. The Asian Games competitor Yertugan Zeinullinov bagged the title against Zhandos Kydyraliyev.
The four-time Asian Champion and Youth World gold medallist Torekhan Sabyrkhan walked over to the title of the welterweight (67kg) against Sanatali Toltayev and he bagged his first elite title at the age of 18. The former Youth World Champion Sabyrzhan Akkalykov, is one of the most promising boxers at the light middleweight (71kg) and he defeated Farrukh Tokhtasynov for the title.
Astana’s Timur Nurseitov progressed a lot and he had the skills to beat the more experienced Nurkanat Raiys in the final of the middleweight (75kg). The Youth World silver medallist 19-year-old Daulet Tulemissov is also in developing stage but Azamat Bektas was slightly better than him at the light heavyweight (80kg) final.
The 20-year-old Temirlan Mukatayev is a big puncher and the Astana-based boxer did not give any chance to Shymkent’s Bekzat Tanatar at the cruiserweight (86kg) final. Almaty’s Daniyar Rakhimberdinov became the new champion of the heavyweight (92kg) before Nurlan Saparbay walked over to the gold at the super heavyweight (+92kg).
