There were two additional weight categories in the National Championships among the junior girls and the junior boys as well, the 42kg and the 44kg due to Vietnam’s strength in the smaller divisions.

Following Truong Dinh Vang’s tight victory at the junior male 44kg, one of their best boxers in this age group, Dinh Van Hang walked over to the title of the pinweight (46kg) due Nguyen Danh Khoa was unable to box against him.
