Repeat match Mirzakhmedov vs. Deepak for the final of the 49kg at the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament on Saturday

The 12 female and the 16 male semi-final bouts were held in the Nimibutr Sport Stadium which is the official venue of the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament. The sixth competition day delivered top level of fights in Bangkok where the men’s light flyweight (49kg) final will be the repeat match of the title contest from the 2019 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships.
The number of the boxers in the competition is altogether impressive 247 from 32 different nations of all of the five Confederations. Among the 247 participants, 98 are women boxers and 149 male athletes are attending in the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament. Fourteen champions will be crowned in the day of the finals on July 27.
Most of the participating nations are using the Thailand Open Boxing Tournament as the last selection and preparation before the upcoming AIBA World Boxing Championships and AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.

Uzbekistan’s Nodirjon Mirzakhmedov is the first male finalist in the Thailand Open
Uzbekistan’s defending ASBC Asian Champion at the men’s light flyweight (49kg) Nodirjon Mirzakhmedov had hard road to the semi-finals of the Thailand Open but he was able to deliver his very best in Bangkok. The Uzbek boxer had another tough rival, Malaysia’s Southeast Asian Games winner Muhammad Fuad Bin Mohamed Redzuan but due his excellent final round, he defeated his experienced opponent who is member of the national team since 2009. Mirzakhmedov’s next rival for the title will be India’s Deepak Singh who eliminated Bhutan’s sensation Tashi Wangdi in another superb fight. The Uzbek and the Indian boxers met in the final of the 2019 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships three months ago.

Thailand vs. Thailand in the final of the women’s light flyweight (48kg)
Thailand’s Chuthamat Raksat claimed bronze medal in the Jeju 2014 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and she returned to her original light flyweight (48kg) to get the title of the Thailand Open. The 26-year-old Thai hope was slightly better than India’s National Champion Manju Rani and reached the final of the weight class. Raksat will be meeting with one of her main national rivals Ratchaneekorn Sikadon who eliminated Australia’s Kaila Riley winning that bout by unanimous decision. Their bout will be decided who will be representing Thailand at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships this October.

Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medallist China’s Hu Jianguan advanced to the final of the flyweight (52kg)
China’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medallist and AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Hu Jianguan is one of the best Asian flyweight (52kg) boxers now. The 26-year-old Chinese eliminated Laos’ No.1 Khamsathone Khamphouvanh in the quarter-finals and delivered another impressive performance in Bangkok. Hu was strongly confident against Thailand’s Surasit Luangpotha and joined to the finals of the Thailand Open. The Chinese boxer amazed all experts with his performance and he needs only one further step to achieve the title in Bangkok where his final opponent will be Kazakhstan’s 19-year-old Yevgeniy Pavlov who eliminated Mongolia’s Enkhmandakh Kharkhuu.

China’s Chang Yuan eliminated Vietnam’s No.1 Nguyen Thi Tam at the women’s flyweight (51kg)
China’s former Youth Olympic Games winner and Jakarta 2018 Asian Games winner Chang Yuan had to face in a superb semi-final with Vietnam’s 2017 ASBC Asian Champion Nguyen Thi Tam in Bangkok. The 22-year-old Chinese boxer felt the tempo from the opening round better than her experienced Vietnamese opponent and her long distance punches worked well in the Thailand Open. Chang was fresh in the third round to beat her top Asian rival and will be boxing for the gold medal with India’s Nikhat Zareen who eliminated Thailand’s Jutamas Jitpong in a tough fight.

Butdee vs. Hussamuddin will be schedule in the male’s bantamweight (56kg) final
Thailand’s 2015 ASBC Asian Champion Chatchai Decha Butdee is a veteran boxer now but he is still in top shape and proved his energetic style in the semi-finals of the male bantamweight (56kg) against Philippines’ Ian Clark Bautista. The 34-year-old Thai boxer felt the support of the home crowd and eliminated of his top rivals in Bangkok. Butdee, who claimed bronze medal at the Almaty 2013 AIBA World Boxing Championships as well, will have a dream final against India’s Mohamed Hussamuddin on Saturday.

Thailand’s Nilawan Techasuep eliminated her second European rival
Thailand’s ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships silver medallist and Boxam Tournament winner Nilawan Techasuep eliminated Italy’s Rio 2016 Olympian Irma Testa in the quarter-finals and she continued her winning path in Bangkok. The tall Thai talent had to meet with another key European boxer and she was able to use her longer reach well against Russia’s Liudmilla Vorontsova in the semi-finals. Techasuep will be facing for the gold medal with Philippines’ AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Nesthy Petecio who eliminated Thailand’s Rio 2016 Olympian Peamwilai Laopeam in a tight bout.

Mongolia’s Asian Games winner Erdenebat Tsendbaatar remained unbeaten in Asia after the semi-finals of the lightweight (60kg)
Mongolia’s Asian Games winner and ASBC Asian Champion Erdenebat Tsendbaatar is relatively small at the lightweight (60kg) but his aggressive style is uncomfortable for his opponents. The 23-year-old Mongolian worked better from longer and closer distances as well and eliminated Kazakhstan’s Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships competitor Adilet Kurmetov in Bangkok. The Rio 2016 Olympic Games quarter-finalist Mongolian will be facing for the gold with Thailand’s Rujakran Juntrong who landed more punches than Morocco’s Mohamed Hamout.

China’s Gu Hong advanced to the final of the women’s welterweight (69kg)
Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien Chin defeated China’s Gu Hong in the final of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships but the opposite result was happened in the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships and also in the Thailand Open. The Chinese boxer eliminated her main rival already in the quarter-finals and dominated the semi-finals against Russia’s Galina Golovchenko. Gu will be meeting for the title with Italy’s Angela Carini who surprisingly defeated DPR Korea’s Kim Jin Son.

Somchay Wongsuwan and Atichai Phoemsap will be fighting for the title of the men’s light welterweight (64kg)
Thailand’s A team member Somchay Wongsuwan had a hectic fight against Mongolia’s Asian Games silver medallist Chinzorig Baatarsukh in the semi-final of the light welterweight (64kg) but he was able to win their seriously tough fight. Thailand’s B team member is Youth Olympic Games winner and AIBA Youth World Champion Atichai Phoemsap, who continued is winning path and defeated South Korea’s Kang Hyeon Bin after Kazakhstan’s National Spartakyad winner Nurzhan Makashbayev.

Thailand’s Wuttichai Masuk impressed at the men’s welterweight (69kg) once again
Thailand’s Incheon 2014 Asian Games winner and ASBC Asian Champion Wuttichai Masuk moved up to the welterweight (69kg) in the recent three months but he adopted the strength of the punches very quickly. The 29-year-old Thai No.1 played his tricky game once again in the semi-final when he met with India’s Ashish Kulhriya who was a superb youth boxer in 2016. The Indian tried to use his range but this world class Thai opponent reached him several times in their bout which delighted the sixth competition day. Masuk will be meeting for the gold medal with South Korea’s Lim Hyun Chul who spent short time in the ring against his Moroccan opponent.
