Osmonov and Zhaparov did memorable performance in the Sabatarov & Abdymomunov Tournament in Kyrgyzstan
The Sabatarov & Abdymomunov Tournament was held in Karakol, Kyrgyzstan where Incheon 2014 Asian Games bronze medallist Turat Osmonov was the best boxer in the event while their youth talent Anarbek Zhaparov also impressed the crowd. The competition was held for all age groups from schoolboys up to the elite level.
Aybek Abdymomunov was gold medallist in the 2004 AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships which was one of the best ever result of the independent Kyrgyzstan while Sabatarov was also a successful boxer. The local Kyrgyz organizers were named the event after their two previous top boxers.
Chui region’s Ramil Ibragimov competed well enough in the recent schoolboys and junior events therefore his success at the pinweight (46kg) was not a surprise. The 15-year-old Kyrgyz talent eliminated Mongolia’s Sukh-Erdene Enkhbaatar in the semi-final and continued his winning path against Kazakhstan’s Syrym Lesbay in the final of the event.
Tokmak is a small town in Kyrgyzstan but its boxing life is very famous in the country and their new junior hope Aziz Sabirov proved spectacular performance in the Sabatarov & Abdymomunov Tournament. The light flyweight (48kg) boxer dominated all of his contests including the final against Mongolia’s Sukhbat Enkhzorigt.
Chui region’s 15-year-old local talent Salim Lebuza won the Kyrgyz Schoolboys National Championships and he had enough experiences top beat his main rivals such as Samat Zhenisbekov and Nurbol Tolon Uulu at the junior flyweight (50kg). The last gold medal in the junior competition was achieved by Kara-Suu’s Islambek Turgunov who dominated all of his contests and defeated his rivals by RSC.
Kyrgyzstan’s U21 National Champion Anarbek Zhaparov was the most experienced youth boxer in the competition who could not fight in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Bangkok but he was amazing in Karakol. He eliminated Mongolia’s two promising young boxers as Tulga Oyunbaatar and 16-year-old Enkhtur Teshjargal in the youth bantamweight (56kg). Kyrgyzstan’s Argen Yesenkulov, Adilet Oruzbayev and Dmitriy Puchnin were the further winners in the youth part of the Sabatarov & Abdymomunov Tournament in Karakol.
Issyk-Kul region’s Asylbek Amankul Uulu is a promising boxer at the light flyweight (49kg) who competed in several elite events but he needed to do his very best to beat Karakol’s local favourite, U22 National Champion Nurzhigit Dyushebayev in the final of the event. The final verdict was unanimous decision to Amankul Uulu in Karakol.
Incheon 2014 Asian Games bronze medallist Turat Osmonov of Bishkek was the biggest name in the elite competition who moved up to the flyweight (52kg) in the recent half year and he is trying to regain his place in the national top team. The 24-year-old boxer dominated his final against Bishkek’s Ulugbek Kyrgyzov and delivered one of the best performance of the Sabatarov & Abdymomunov Tournament. The last gold medal of the event was achieved by Argen Kadyrbek Uulu who was too strong for Adilet Kamchybek Uulu.
