Orozbekov and Al-Rawashdeh made their nations proud in Amman
The long and exciting ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships finished with its 25 youth finals in Amman, Jordan today. India, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan won the titles in the last competition day in Amman. Kyrgyzstan’s 16-year-old Almaz Orozbekov and Jordan’s Saif Al-Rawashdeh made their countries proud in the day of the finals.
Altogether 355 boxers from 21 nations attended in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Amman. India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Yemen sent their best talents to the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships.
Impressive number of 51 female and male champions were crowned in the competition, 26 junior boxers and 25 youth athletes. Boxers who were born in 2004 and in 2005 were eligible to attend in the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. The younger talents from the 2006 and 2007 age groups could compete in the junior part of the championships in Jordan.
Nivedita Karki turned back her final bout
Uzbekistan’s new sensation in their women’s team is Saidakhon Rakhmonova who defeated ASBC Asian Junior Champion Gulsevar Ganiyeva in the final of their last Youth National Championships. The Uzbek boxer eliminated Kazakhstan’s Gulnaz Buribayeva in the semi-finals with excellent performance. Rakhmonova shocked her final opponent, India’s Nivedita Karki in the first round when the Uzbek knocked down her. The Indian boxer found her best rhythm in the second round and following that shocking moment, she was able to turn back their final contest in Amman earning the first gold medal.
Tomiris Myrzakul is Kazakhstan’s first female youth gold medallist
Kazakhstan’s first youth female finalist, Tomiris Myrzakul eliminated Thailand’s Kamonchanok Chupradit in the last four and she tried to do her very best against the favourite, Uzbekistan’s Munavvar Fozilova. The Kazakh boxer tried to reduce the fighting distance from the first seconds and used Fozilova’s best weapons in their flyweight (52kg) final. Fozilova, who eliminated a strong Indian in the last four, could not do her best combinations today and suffered an unexpected loss today. The Kazakh was able to keep Fozilova on short range and won the final by split decision in Amman.
Baidukova secured her second Asian title
Kazakhstan’s new No.1, Viktoriya Baidukova won the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and the Commonwealth of Independent States Junior Games in the recent seven months. She joined to the youth age group in January and did not give any chance to India’s Tanisha Lamba in the semi-finals of the championship. The Kazakh southpaw used her longer reach in the first round of the final against Uzbekistan’s Rano Muratbayeva who had a surprise success in the last four. The Karakalpakstan-based Uzbek bantamweight (54kg) boxer could not find the best weapons against Baidukova in the final therefore the Kazakh won this title contest by large margin of differences.
India’s Shaheen Gill is the surprise gold medallist at the lightweight
Uzbekistan’s Mukhlisa Tokhirova is one of the most experienced youth boxers in their team who eliminated Kyrgyzstan’s Youth National Champion Baktygul Kurmanbekova in the semi-finals. Tokhirova’s final opponent was India’s Shaheen Gill who turned back her semi-final against Kazakhstan’s Aruza Balgabek. The Indian girl launched her attacks with perfect timing in the first round of their lightweight (60kg) final and took the lead on the scorecards. Gill followed the strategy which was developed by the coaches and she had the perfect replies to the Uzbek boxer’s combinations therefore the Indian won the title.
Ravina earned India’s fourth gold medal
India’s Ravina stopped Jordan’s Nour Asad in the semi-final five days ago and she prepared well to her final bout in Amman. The Indian light welterweight (63kg) boxer faced in the final of the weight class with Uzbekistan’s experienced Sitora Bakhodirova who bowed out Mongolia’s lone female semi-finalist, Uranchimeg Anujin. The Indian was taller and used her longer reach effectively which she combined it with excellent footwork to avoid the Uzbek attacks. Ravina was patient, she waited for the best angles to stop Bakhodirova and succeeded in Amman achieving India’s fourth gold medal.
Aziza Zokirova defended her youth title
Uzbekistan’s defending ASBC Asian Youth Champion and ASBC Asian Junior Champion Aziza Zokirova is their nation’s best female talent. The Uzbek boxer arrived to Amman to achieve her second youth gold medal after the Dubai 2021 edition. Zokirova is AIBA Youth World Champion Jakhongir Zokirov’s younger sister and has done a strong job against India’s Pranjal Yadav in the semi-final. Zokirova met with Kazakhstan’s Gaukhar Shaybekova for the gold medal and she had difficulties in the first round at the light middleweight (70kg) final. Zokirova turned up the heat in the beginning of the second round and the Indian referee had to count the Kazakh talent. The Uzbek No.1 dominated the final from the second round and defended her Asian youth title in Amman.
India’s Vishvanath Suresh dominated the first male final
Kyrgyzstan’s ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships silver medallist Bekzat Ergeshov stopped the Mongolian opponent, Otgonbatar Tuvshinzaya in a quick semi-final bout and advanced to the final of the minimumweight (48kg). She met with India’s ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Vishvanath Suresh who achieved gold in Fujairah two and half years ago. The Indian boxer used his tempo to find the best attacking positions against his taller Kyrgyz rival in the first round. All of the judges scored 10:9 the first round in the favour of the Indian boxer who had fantastic defence and counter-attacks in their final. Suresh had unpredictable movements and he controlled all of the three rounds against the younger Kyrgyz talent earning gold medal in Amman.
Nortojiyev is Uzbekistan’s first youth male gold medallist in Jordan’s capital
Uzbekistan’s Khujanazar Nortojiyev amazed in the recent competitions at the flyweight (51kg) and he advanced to the final in Amman too where he eliminated his Indian rival, Raman. The Uzbek talent controlled the first round of his final against Kazakhstan’s Almat Abduali and led in each of the judges’ scorecard 10:9 after three minutes. Nortojiyev was highly confident in the first and second rounds therefore the Uzbek had massive leading therefore he did not make any serious risks in the final period. Nortojiyev was not only stronger and more experienced than his Kazakh opponent but he had the speed advantage to win their final in Amman.
Asadov dominated his featherweight final
Uzbekistan’s new sensation, Bakhtiyor Asadov defeated stars in the last edition of the Uzbekistan Youth National Championships including ASBC Asian Schoolboys Champion Dalerjon Bozorov and received the right to attend in Amman. The strong Uzbek eliminated his main rival in the last four, Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Bakhtiyar Anarbayev with superb performance. Asadov, who began boxing in 2011, controlled the first round against Kyrgyzstan’s second finalist, Akzhol Asylbek Uulu and he was better in all aspects of boxing. The new Uzbek boxer had better defensive skills and landed high number of clear punches from counter-attacking range to win their featherweight (57kg) final.
Kyrgyzstan’s Almaz Orozbekov earned his nation’s first title since 2019
Tajikistan’s best youth boxer Abdurakhim Yokubov was gold medallist at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and he arrived to Amman to earn his second continental title. The Tajik lightweight (60kg) met in the final with Kyrgyzstan’s ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist Almaz Orozbekov which delivered a tactical first round between the neighbouring boxers. The Kyrgyz lightweight (60kg) boxer is younger than Yokubov but he had the experiences to catch the Tajik with quick jabs. Yokubov worked from longer distance and he had a great finish in the second round but the final verdict was depended on their efforts in the last period. Orozbekov moved closer in the final minutes and his efforts were enough to win that difficult and hectic contest.
India’s Vanshaj won his first Asian title
Uzbekistan’s technician Javokhir Ummataliyev was gold medallist at the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and joined to the youth age group this January. He moved up to the light welterweight (63.5kg) and eliminated Kazakhstan’s Madiyar Taipakov in the last four. Ummataliyev had to meet with India’s powerful ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Vanshaj for the title which was the battle of the different styles. The Uzbek southpaw landed several uppercuts in the beginning of the second round but Vanshaj responded with left-handed hooks. The Indian landed a few good single shots in the third round and won his first ASBC Asian title during his career.
Erkinboyev secured his second Asian title
Uzbekistan’s Fazliddin Erkinboyev achieved gold medal at the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships as Javokhir Ummataliyev and joined to their youth national team. The 16-year-old welterweight (67kg) boxer was too strong for Iraq’s Karrar Hayder Ismaeel in the last four and faced with Kazakhstan’s Islam Sovetov for the title. Erkinboyev started better in the first round and he had better game plan than his Kazakh opponent therefore the Uzbek had the lead after three minutes. Erkinboyev was better in all aspects of boxing and earned his second Asian title, first among the youth boxers.
Yegor Yegorov won the light middleweight
Kazakhstan’s Yegor Yegorov stopped Tajikistan’s Yusuf Fozilov in the semi-finals of the light middleweight (71kg) and he had three days to map Uzbekistan’s Alisher Ayubov who achieved only bronze medal at the 2021 Youth National Championships but proved developments in Amman. Ayubov decided most of his contests using his strength but Yegorov had an excellent strategy against the promising Uzbek. Yegorov controlled most of the exchanges in the first and second rounds, and despite of Ayubov’s efforts and the standing count, the Kazakh earned the gold medal in this weight class.
Rakhmatullo Boymatov reached the top of the podium
Uzbekistan’s Rakhmatullo Boymatov eliminated his semi-final opponent, Tajikistan’s Nurlanbek Ermatov winning the bout easily three days ago. The Uzbek boxer faced for the gold medal with Kazakhstan’s 17-year-old Daulet Tulemissov who had a tight success over India’s Deepak in the second semi-final on Day10. The Uzbek boxer was stronger in all of the exchanges and controlled the first round against the Kazakh Junior National Champion. The referee counted Tulemissov in their final and following that Boymatov had the confidence to win the Asian youth title at the middleweight (75kg).
Kazakhstan’s Temirlan Mukatayev is now two-time ASBC Asian Youth Champion
Kazakhstan’s Temirlan Mukatayev is the defending ASBC Asian Youth Champion at the new cruiserweight (86kg) who is their most experienced boxer in the national team. The 18-year-old Kazakh stopped his Kyrgyz rival, Sanjar Tenizbekov in the semi-final spending short time in the ring. Mukatayev knew his final opponent Uzbekistan’s new sensation, Jamoliddin Kozokov and he had the right strategy in the title contest. Mukatayev started the first round with a nice left-handed uppercut and his hooks were dangerous to Kazakov too. Following, Mukatayev’s impressive shots and the two standing counts, the Uzbek ringside abandoned their unequal contest.
Uzbekistan’s Aynazar Kenesbayev was smarter than his Kazakh rival
Uzbekistan’s Aynazar Kenesbayev was unlucky with the draw and the decisions in his recent ASBC Championships as schoolboy and junior boxer. He joined to the youth age group this January and met with another young talent in the final of the heavyweight (92kg), Kazakhstan’s 16-year-old Yerdos Sharipbek who achieved already a medal at the 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships. Kenesbayev had longer reach than the smaller Kazakh boxer and he was better in the exchanges in the first and second rounds. The Uzbek was smart enough in the last round and he won his first ever Asian title beating another promising boxer.
Jordan won the last title of the event
Jordan’ Saif Al-Rawashdeh is the host nation’s super heavyweight (+92kg) boxer in the competition who stopped Kyrgyzstan’s younger Zhoodarbek Saparbekov in the semi-finals of the category. Al-Rawashdeh met for the title with India’s Aman Singh Bisht who had a hectic success against Kazakhstan’s strong Timofey Potashov in the last four. The local boy started with different rhythm and the Kyrgyz referee counted the Indian in the first minute. Both boxers had the same fighting style, landed high number of punches while their defensive skills are not enough good yet. Singh adopted the rhythm and he launched also tough shots therefore the referee counted the local boxer too still in the first round. Both boxers were exhausted after two rounds and in the third Al-Rawashdeh could land enough punches against the slow Indian to win the last title of the championship.
